My own take on this is Flowey, liking and interacting with Papyrus more than most characters, decided to use his knowledge to convince Papyrus genuinely that Sans was in some way holding back his future in the Royal Guard and also purposefully hurting the monsters of the underground by hiding his mysterious knowledge (as in the knowledge of the timelines, something Papyrus knows Sans has learned about even if Papyrus doesn't know about it himself.) What Flowey really wants is to get Sans out of his way by distracting him with Papyrus' outburst and then sneak attacking him. At the end of the fight Sans dodges a pellet attack from Flowey which is what hits Papyrus into the CORE.

I can imagine Papyrus doing multiple poses while Sans does nothing other than maybe tilt slightly when he sings.

Here’s how the plot would be After several resets and screwing around with the timeline, Flowey decides that in order to pass Sans, he convinces Papyrus that Sans doesn’t love him, and that he killed Undyne (he already killed her) and that in order to join the guard, he must kill Sans. Papyrus manipulated, is transported to Holland, where the barricades Alphys intended to use are placed near the Holland bridge instead. Sans and Papyrus fight, but Sans accidentally knocks Papyrus into the lava and kills him, foiling Flowey’s plan, but scarring this version of Sans for life. Flowey decides not to reset for a long time to watch Sans suffer alone over the death of his brother, and tries to kill everyone else, but is stopped by Asgore.

But one day, when papyrus was sitting on a bench alone at night, flowey came to check on papyrus asking what’s on his mind. He then says that he feels like he’s just supposed to stand by the sidelines while his lazy brother takes the fame, making bad puns, showing them how he lives in the underground, it made him angry, then flowey had an idea. He manipulated papyrus thinking that sans is just making him his liability since their brothers, with everyone drinking ketchup, barely trying his spaghetti he never ate, papyrus grew angry, he promised to himself to KILL his brother, then while sans was just visiting hotland for the annerversary of the underground, he saw papyrus, he said a bad pun but…..papyrus didn’t respond in a way he though he would, papyrus response with a fast-flying bone, sans is confused and yada yada “You thought the flower worked alone?!” Idk if this was good or bad lemme know in the comments
