My favorite part of this is the pure innocence in Vision saying ”What would you do”. He’s not being sarcastic or hostile. He genuinely wants to know.

One of the most underrated MCU movies. Love it

It's a well written moment. No lengthy "can we trust him" scenes that last a movie. Just something simple and extremely clear.

I think that was a genius move on Joss' part to show the Avengers that Vision is trustworthy in a very short amount of time. He 1st showed in the begining that none of them were worthy of wielding the hammer then a creature created by Ultron they don't know if they can trust IS.

Out of all the Avengers movies, this is my favorite. This showed what was beginning to happen to the group and perfectly sets up Civil War and the dissolution of the Avengers. Also, James Spader as Ultron. The perfect person to play a villain who thinks he knows what's good for humanity while he is actively destroying it in the process.

This is why AoU is great; this one scene has so many character dynamics, all bouncing off each other and discussing an existential threat. Tony vs Steve, Wanda vs Banner, Hawkeye vs Pietro, Thor vs himself! And then all that conflict gets distilled into one character who literally has an Infinity Stone in his head! AoU is messy but it finds ways to bring these characters together in such interesting combinations. They introduce Wanda and Vision during an Avengers movie!!

Well if him picking up Mjollnir isn't a 'seal of approval' I don't know what is. Avengers ASSEMBLE!

One lifted hammer later . . .

Any non-organic being can lift Mjolnir, it can only determine worthiness on flesh & blood organics, that's why Beta Ray Bill was able to use it before giving it up for Stormbreaker. Ultron has used it and because the real Dr. Doom couldn't and had this brilliant plan to have a Doom-Bot do it, but backfired when the Doom-Bot realized he wasn't the real deal and turned on Doom. Colossus of the X-Men can lift it in his steel form too, but he's a pretty pure-of-heart type who would sacrifice himself for others anyway. That's what makes you worthy by the way.

I never even clued in that Vision was "worthy" the very first time I watched this lol, I just thought he was so powerful that he was able to lift the hammer.

Can we just sit here and appreciate this was a scene from movie back when the MCU was simply .... AWESOME?!?! We will NEVER get that again. It was an 11 year run that those of us who experienced it first hand will NEVER forget, and I pity those who in the future will never know what it was like to see these films, fresh in the theaters and having to wait for the next ones. At that time I openly said, Kevin Feige was a genius and at that time, it was true. But like Vision said, all things must end....

THIS is storytelling.

I hope you eventually do the Snap from Infinity War and either Avengers Assemble or Cap wielding Mjolnir from Endgame.

Vision is not Worthy of the hammer, let me explain, just like what they said at the end of the movie, the only reason why he is able to move the hammer is because he is not a person/being, he is a Thing. He may be a machine with artificial intelligence and is design to have consciousness and emotions just like a real person but he is still an android/a machine. It's the same reason if you place the hammer on a table, the table doesn't get wreck or if you put it on an elevator, the elevator will still go up. So don't be surprised if a villain like ultron can also lift it (there is a comic where ultron actually lifted thor's hammer, can't remember what comic it was though. plus, vision started out as a villain, ultron created vision and was a loyal minion/servant to ultron before betraying him and joining the avengers). The only time a thing/object will not be able to move the hammer is if that thing/object is being controlled by a someone/a being. And also I don't think Thor is not really worthy of the hammer, in the first Thor movie, during thor's banishment, Odin puts an enchantment on the hammer making the only ones who are brave and with Pure Heart able to lift the hammer and possessed thor's powers (before that the hammer prabably can be lifted by anyone) the only reason why thor was able to lift it again was because Odin gave him permission when he prove himself a changed man in the first Thor movie, it is really Steve Rogers who is really worthy of the hammer, Mjolnir.

Ultron is not worthy. He is a machine. He can move it because he has no soul to be checked for worthiness by Mjolnir. Ultron is an elevator. Rewatch the end where Steve and Tony talk about this. Further, notice that the only thing Vision can do is pick it up and use it like a hammer. He cannot summon lightning or fly with it. There is only one other in the MCU that is worthy besides Thor. Watch Endgame to find out who.

Vision wasn’t worthy….. it’s just that he’s strong enough to carry the hammer…. There’s a difference…. Plus that stone is strong unlike the others….. this one is exceptional
