I pretty much view my my legal name as like a "Gamertag", makes it easier to distance yourself from it. Gonna be some time before I can change it legally tho.

I'm blessed to have been given a kinda neutral name (as in, the pronunciation is the same but the spelling is different for the male and female forms, and the male form is much more common). Then again I simply don't care, enby of the agender flavor so like... use whatever pronouns you want for me, spell my name however you want (within reason, don't spell it ¢œ1_µ or smth like that like a certain infamous person did for his kid)

There are first person singular (I, me, my), first person plural (we, us, our), second person (you, your), third person male (he, him, his), third person female (she, her), third person neutral (it) and third person plural (they, them, their) and I could give a paragraph that uses every pronoun I've just mentioned. Since all pronouns are in use within my vocabulary, the pronouns that I use are all of them.

Wellll, it's KIND-OF about being Trans. There's definitely ways to read that into it, but it's more about escaping corporate culture through various online personas mixed with big Christian/Jesus metaphors. That's where it gets complicated because while the Matrix isn't their 'real selves', that can mean so many different things, like, as the movie draws attention to, letting yourself act more freely in chat rooms or being open about your feelings with friends and loved ones when you 'unplug' after hours. I know a lot of people like to gesture at the creator's Trans identities to say that this is the thing the movie is about, but when you actually look at the themes and ideas, it's kind-of a limiting perspective that doesn't fit as neatly as the larger focus on corporatism and 'the system' is. I mean, a lot of the first film is about escaping/destroying a corporate office while dealing with government agents... the problems aren't really coming from co-workers or a lack of acceptance, they're coming from people being forced into a capitalist corporate system backed by the State, "the machine" controlling how everything works. And while you can't destroy the system or "the machine", you can at least change it for the better by the end of the Trilogy. I dunno, just makes way more sense to interpret it as a figurative masking of his real self than to suggest that Neo's just in the wrong body because it's a Dysphoria metaphor... even though he goes back and forth throughout the films between his fake self and his real self as needed, even after completely gaining his 'real body'. Not saying it couldn't have inspired stuff, but it's just not really 'there' as much as people want to think it is.

That is something I’m sure almost every trans person goes through. I remember the first time I was in a mental hospital with a bunch of therapists and counselors, I felt anxious whenever someone asked for my name because since it’s a hospital, they *should* call me by my legal (but dead) name except they insisted on me using my actual name, Oliver. It was just weird for me. Especially since this was years before I transitioned.

Sorry if this isn’t an option for you but could you change your name legally? Then you won’t have to get deadnamed by the government
