Gotta love Bluetooth. I only use it for cordless controller connections IMO.

Bluetooth is the modern tech that we need (with the option of wired) but with devices that don’t just wake up all the time!

Watching that I was very very glad I picked the Celestee instead. I didn't know that this one has lights in it.

Which is why you ALWAYS keep the bluetooth off until you need it. Also saves *a lot* of battery.

I have some focal listen wireless (got given them) and they do the same thing, if the power runs out I can just jam in an aux cable and other than the play pause stuff it works perfectly

It's caused by a shit ton of factors but the gist of it is "People noticed that they like the sound of something they've become used to better than the sound of something new and instead of rightfully saying that *you* need to get used to them, they've started saying that the hardware is changing"

the problem with having an app is that it will stop working one day. Eventually it will not be worth the R&D cost to the company to keep the app updated and compatible with every OS release and support will be discontinued. It's good that it doesn't require a login because that's another service that will one day stop being supported so another point of failure

That would be an instant deal breaker for me (if I was looking for bluetooth headphones in the first place). The Sony WH-1000xm4 I got with my phone can be used wired with an aux cord when turned off, which is actually my preferred way to use them. Even then, I will use my Meze 99 Neo or AKG K712 Pro over the Sonys whenever I can, since both of those sound better.

@@darkderpmusic No, they don't work when turned off. They have an amplifier built into them.

I looked it up, and according to a post on iFixit, the battery is not designed to be user replaceable. It's crazy to ask someone to pay several hundred bucks for something that will only last a few years, especially when it's not due to a real technical limitation. $1200 for the same problem is like an automatic disqualifier IMO.

Focal have said the battery can be replaced.

@@justinharrison9521 yeah, for the next 5-10 years but i would bet that you can't get a new battery in 20 years. On normal headphone most likely only your cable will break but it is easy and cheap to change to another one. When you have good cables they will last for decades. The only thing you have to change regularly are the earpads but it is the same for this Bluetooth garbage. I have an Sennheiser HD598 which is now ~14 years old and still works. My HD660s is 6 years old and my Focal Celestee is 3 years old. I expect all of those headphone will still works when the last Bathys goes to the landfill because of a dead battery and no replacement.
