Regardless if ppl feel mephisto needed to be buffed or not, there is one thing all players should agree on. Boundless should not be changing how the exhaust mechanic works. Exhaust exists for a reason. Make whatever changes they want to Mephisto, but they need to not be changing exhaust.

They should let us vote for the next Mythic character.

Pretty simple - the krakens finished their QA test on him so they had to update the game. Scopely didn’t gameplay test him before, so they had to do it live as usual!

The Mephisto situation is nothing like the Apoc one. Apoc’s kit was outdated on his release, and they fixed him in about a week. Mephisto has been op for 2 months. This is not a data driven change. If it was, they would have had that data before now. He holds in arena. The alliance with the most Mephisto’s won alliance war. The only placed he struggled was cc defense, especially since he was often not placed with good surrounding characters. There is no problem Boundless needed to solve. Some characters like Mephisto are just better on offense, then defense. If players can’t comprehend that and continue to put Mephisto on cc defense, that a player issue, not a character one. You can just look at what Scopely said. Mephisto is performing fine on offense. Basically, this is the same thing as if a cabinet manufacturer made cabinets that had screws that required a flat head screw driver, but customers complained their Phillips screwdrivers weren’t working. If Scopely was that company, they would change all the screws instead of simply telling customers to learn to use tools correctly.

I mean was anyone complaining about how powerful he was? He took 2 of the best War teams to beat in war and the best CC team to beat in CC. That feels pretty powerful to me

I think this change to Mephisto is BS. Basically the Krakens cried that their new toy they paid so much for was not giving them auto wins in CC and War so Scopely catered to them. No character should be unbeatable and he is now pretty close to that. If I get to a point where I see more in CC and can't win because I don't have him it may be my tipping point where I either quit or become 100% ftp. Right now I get the passes and most initial unlock on new characters but won't even do that.

So Out of Time has been relegated to a sack team. 😢 Also yeah knowing now they work like a casino and have a VIP group they have go out of their way to keep happy it really is simply that the VIPs told them they weren't happy with Mephisto as is. But that is how mobile games work.

Lets buff the strongest toon in this game instead of reworking older toons. -scopely

Mephisto was easily an offense character before. As you could choose which contract to go with depending on the fight and the others you brought in. I was planning on theorycrafting when i unlocked him. Now, they just made him mandatory defense in war and crucible. So anyone who doesn’t like defensive characters and teams, thank whoever asked for this buff.

The Watcher should be a next Mythic. And in my opinion, Infinity Ultron should be his own character. And be really good.

Can’t be having krackens with no skill losing. Scopely must update scourage and mephisto for the remaining game modes. Scopely actually had good tuning in the character pre buff. If you had mephisto and lost, definitely a skill issue. Not to mention this insane acceleration of power creep. And Xavier has to be even better, and the team counters need to be better. Scopely is accelerating too quickly.

Even if everyone gets Mephisto, war will be unplayable and 99% of alliances wont full clear.

I thought character snapshots were taken when war starts so any leveling we do to characters on defense don't actually change those defensive character stats. Did this Buff bipass the snapshot?

Maybe because they saw patdim1 beat the largest tcp beta ray bill with Mephisto on defense in cc which was actually awesome and felt like real game play.

If it is live, how did the Mephisto gain a taunt on himself in your first sack? The update seems to say this would no longer be the case?

I’m light years away from mephisto, but I think it’ll be a good change long term. Maybe by time I get him, along with most of the rest of the player base, he’ll still be relevant due to the buff. For someone that’s so difficult to unlock, he should be super powerful. I mean let’s be honest , they’ll be new characters released this year that at least soft counter him before most of us get him

I think only envoys, krakens and whales at the top are upset by this. This change only really affects them because they're the usual opponents and punching bags for the mega krakens and whales who pay top dollar to unlock dark dimension characters first. I'm a veteran end game player but by the time I unlock Mephisto there will be counters available for him. Just like when I finally unlocked Skrull. Black Knight and Cabal are counters to him. Mephisto SHOULD be unstoppable upon his initial release. Just like all previous dark dimension characters since Doom.

It’s funny you should say blame Boundless, not krakens. The problem is both, not just one. When some krakens complain and bring about changes that make the game worse, those specific krakens deserve blame. They shouldn’t get a pass just because they spend more money or because a lot of the other krakens are great members of the community. And Boundless needs to grow a spine; they have been caving on too many issues, especially when those complaints come from krakens. I used to think it was great that Boundless was being more responsive to player feedback, but they have gone too far in that direction. They cave to complaints no matter how unreasonable they are. There was one or two overtuned nodes in temporal dimension. Instead of standing up for themselves and only adjusting those nodes, they caved and nerfed the event into the ground. Some players complained about spotlight raids having 4 strike teams. Once again, they caved and made that raid a joke. Same thing just happened with Mephisto. The best character in the game held in arena, won wars, was unstoppable on cc offense, then some ppl complained that after being op for 2 months, that a non cc character got beat on defense when ppl combined 2 of the best cc teams together. Then, they buff what is still the best character in the game to the moon. About the only thing Boundless has not caved on is the star gate on the OML event. Ironically, there is one segment of the playerbase who isn’t really complaining about that. Edit - Told you I had enough complaining to go around for everyone, not just for boundless. 😈

I dont hate the buff they gave him, i mean if he gets this a lot buffs stats and skills he becomes even worth getting, so kind of excited for my dd7 run now even more then before.

What you said about the easy counters is the exact reason why as a player who only buys the passes, I am glad they buffed him. I am 4-6 months away from my mephisto, I don’t want him to be easily countered when I get him. The way he was he probably would have been, he is now so good that I don’t think even 6 months from now he will be easily beatable.

Feels super bad man, basically he is completely uncountable in arena now without him, 6 months of being locked out of at least the top 5 in my arena shard now

The only fix they needed to make was not have cabal and moe work together in crucible. Thats why they boosted mephisto and tbey should just remove the seasons rules making cabal and moe work together. They fucked everything in all game modes

Krakens cried that he was so easily beatable after they dumped all that $$$$ into the race to get him.

Krakens are losing with Mephisto because they suck at the game. They always stuff Mephisto into a room with Skrull/Apoc/Black Knight because they think putting all the best characters in one room is the best strategy when it's not. Doing so just makes the rest of their rooms easier to clear, which allows their opponents to combine Cabal/Masters of Evil into one super team without worrying about needing them in the other rooms. I real skilled player would theory craft the rooms in a way which has the player saying "I need Masters of Evil in this room, but I used them to beat Mephisto"

Nice, they buffed a character that 90% of the player base won't get for a year.

I can never get the playbase, everyone will have mesphito at a certain point. The only people who have him right now are the top players in their own circle pool. He did feel lack luster as a dd reward.

while it is absolutely on scopely that they buffed mephisto recklessly, please stop playing apologist for whiny rich people. it's not a good look. there's a way to hold scopely accountable while not being dismissive of the legitimate criticisms of the people who pay for their lifestyle. this is not it. the increasingly lazy demands of these folks are eroding the playability, and frankly the fun, of this game.

Give us new content not characters. Boting
