He can touch it as long as he has re-established back on the inbound court with both feet - which he did not do - if you watch carefully he rec'd the pass with only one foot on the inbound court and then the second foot touched the floor on the jump shot....no bucket....refs blew it.

This is the rule that would apply in this case: If a player goes out of bounds without the ball, they can go back inbounds at any time but they can’t influence the play or touch the ball until they have rejoined inbounds by placing both feet within the borderlines. And I agree - shouldnt have counted that basket. It would have resulted in a turnover of possession to Rutgers at half court with whatever time was left on the clock at the time of the infraction.

Video also shows Holden standing out of bounds when the ball is passed to him. He leaps onto the court at the same time that he catches the pass, which also is a violation. The rules say he must first establish position on the court before he can touch the ball. Holden didn’t appear to do that.

If I am commissioner Warren. I would send a message and reverse the ending of this game. He takes like 3-4 steps out of bounds before getting himself back in. As soon as he touches the ball, the play is dead. 1 second left and Rutgers gets to inbound the ball. I cannot believe this was missed

"Players who go out of bounds can legally rejoin the play and touch the ball once they have both feet back on the court." That's exactly what happened. And if you think the PG went out of bounds there (while being fouled), you need to visit your optometrist.

I was at this game, and let me tell you it was easily the most exciting game I’ve been to. Rutgers played amazing defense the whole game, but Ohio State found a way. And the whole arena was rocking after this shot! ⭕️🙌

So, I will revise to say, that the passer's effort to pass off the ball was worthy of mention. It's wonder the officials didn't notice.

I remember MLB in George Bret’s pine tar game had to go back to ump’s mistake, correct it then restarted the game at that point weeks later. NFL, NBA, NCAA doesn’t do that. They apologize for the mistake but allow it to stand & make no attempt to correct.

A violation has not been committed when a player, who steps out of bounds as permitted by Rule 7-4.6.b, does not receive the pass along the end line from a teammate and is the first to touch the ball after returning to the playing court. b. A player whose momentum causes that player to go out of bounds may be the first to touch the ball inbounds if that player reestablishes one foot inbounds prior to touching the ball.

Refs should have reviewed this one. By rule - If a player goes out of bounds without the ball, they can go back inbounds at any time but they can’t influence the play or touch the ball until they have rejoined inbounds by placing both feet within the borderlines. Watch carefully you can see that the player rec'd the pass with only one foot on the inbound side of the court then the second foot touched the floor on the jump for the shot.... by rule this shot should not have counted. - turnover to the other team at the midcourt sideline.

Refs should be suspended a game for missing the fact that BOTH players were out of bounds (#2 at 0:42 and #0 at 0:44 was not re-established in-bounds before touching the ball).

Never should have counted! Dribbler stepped out of bounds before passing and shooter went out of bounds on his own before receiving pass! Therefore, he cannot be the 1st to touch the ball upon re-entering the court!
