During the college football game between Ohio State and Rutgers, Ohio State's punter decided to take off on fourth down even though his team was already leading 49-10. Rutgers did not take kindly to this and hit him out of bounds. The sequence led to multiple penalties and the two head coaches getting in a shouting match.

The most ridiculous thing about this is if the punter would have punted it to Rutgers, they would still try to score even though they're down big. So they were still playing football and until the clock ends you play. The only solution to this is I see it is for both teams to agree to end the game early LOL.

This is exactly what happened. Rutgers was asking for a butt-kicking by overloading the box and trying to block the punt. What is Mirco supposed to do? Allow them to block the punt and perhaps run it back? No, the only thing putrid about that play was the cowardly cheap shot at the end.
@LordTepes81

🤣 soooooo if it was going to get blocked how the hell did he have so much room to run before he got to the line of scrimmage? You're grasping at straws trying to justify the punter taking actions into his own hands instead of just punting it away when he clearly had more than enough room to do so.

@@donyoung7874 I'm looking right at the video and the replay. If Rutgers had a free shot at the punter he's not getting out of the backfield. He's definitely not gonna have about 7 yards of free real estate in front of him. He could have punted that ball at any given time before the line of scrimmage and chose to run. To me, it didn’t look like it was intentional and just a result of how the play broke down.. Edit: I am talking about the “fake”.. I don’t believe they drew that up as a intended fake from the beginning but rather a combination of the punter seeing an opportunity along with getting rushed. The brain traumas recently suffered by Tua Tagovailo call into serious question our rationality and morality as a society. Tua is an adult and can make decisions for himself. However, children lack the maturity and legal ability to make many decisions for themselves. Many medical professionals claim the brain is not fully developed until the mid twenties. Yet Multiple national in depth studies definitively show that participating in American football results in numerous debilitating physical injuries. Over 20% of all bone breaks, and gruesome joint injuries each year in 14-18 yr olds are the result of participating in American Football. It is estimated that a third of all football players have had a concussion while practicing or playing American football. Most are undiagnosed. In coaching parlance , they “get their bell rung” and are praised for their manliness in absorbing the pain and reentering the fray. They are told to suck it up and take it for the team. These life changing injuries have been well documented for decades. Now CTE, or chronic traumatic encephalopathy, a degenerative brain disease linked to head trauma, has been cited as causes of death, erratic and violent behavior and suicides in over 50 former American football participants. American football players have a 15 TIMES greater incidence of CTE than the general population. Supposedly adults are more experienced and capable of weighing the risks associated with their actions. Young children act impulsively and emotionally, often never calculating the possible outcomes of their acts. That is why adults must be in positions to regulate their activities and offer reasoned guidance. Allowing children to engage in dangerous ‘games’ and activities is tantamount to child abuse and neglect. Parents, coaches and school districts that encourage such activities should not be surprised in the future to be defendants in lawsuits by the affected individuals. The lives of young people are too valuable to sacrifice for frivolity. There are multiple less perilous alternatives to provide physical athleticism and teach the positive lessons team sports have to offer. Claiming American football is a safe way to improve the body and mind is a lie.

At the end of the day, I believe that even when you are down, you have to build character to keep fighting. However, Schiano set up a block punt down 39, knowing they have no chance of winning this game, even after OSU had called off the dogs and put in their reserves. That was a decision made by the punter not Ryan Day as he said afterwards. I loved the fire between the coaches and the mutual respect they had afterwards, towards one another. But don't think that you are the only one that teaches character, so does your opponent. I love how the coaches fought for their respective teams. @@JB-423 oh boo hoo, are teams supposed to stop trying when they have the lead? Is Rutgers going to honor that and take a knee so that Ohio can walk away with the win? No, they aren't, doesn't matter if you're up by 50 in the first half, shove your win down the other team's throat until the clock hits zero. Don't like getting blown out? Play better.

If you think a punter deserves to get hit late because he made a heads up play you’re a clown
