Ohuhu brush marker review : First look at the 48 pastel set of Honolulu. I finally got my hands on some Ohuhu markers! I have been wanting to test these brush markers for a long time now. I'm starting with the pastel colours (48 marker set + colorless blender) and giving my thoughts throughout the video. I also try to show the design of the barrel, and compare the barrel of the pen to other alcohol markers such as Spectrum Noir, Windsor & Newton brush markers, Prismacolor Premier markers, Copic sketch markers and Copic Ciao. I zoom in side by side for you to compare the brush nibs as well as the chisel nibs. I also play around with the blending and creating colour swatches before moving on to demoing the brush markers to create a pastel dragon design.
My overall thoughts on the markers themselves, are that they are top quality and as good as any other alcohol marker, including copic - or at least to someone like me who isn't a professional with markers. I don't see why anyone would pay 5x the price for another brand. They also have a large range of colors, 320 at the time of posting this, along with a range of different nibs. The pastel marker set I review here is nice, but I'm not sure that I would call all of these colors 'pastel' personally and I think next time I will go for a set that includes more darks / range of values, cannot wait to get more! Also the paper I am using is the ohuhu spiral bound marker pad, links below.
Ultimately, as most of us already know, Ohuhu markers are a cheap budget friendly marker (alcohol based markers which are designed for blending well together) that can rival the very expensive brands like copic. This is a great cheaper alternative to other markers.

Your dragon looks amazing! I agree about these pastel colors being a bit more saturated than I expect pastels to be as well, but I still love them! I would suggest for a great kit of actual pastel alcohol markers, the Arrtx Pastel kit of 66. They have many more pastel shades and I like to mix these with my Ohuhu pastel markers for a great range of colors :) There are still some saturated ones in the group (Arrtx) but overall the best kit of pastel colors I've been able to find so far! If you're still looking that is!

Thanks for the kind comment! Brush markers are fantastic, although can be tricky too. That's pretty cool I don't think I have seen Ohuhu markers in shops yet over here in the UK ( physical stores that is ) but I wouldn't be surprised if they started appearing very soon!

Beautiful choose of colors you have right I have the pastel set myself I been waiting a long time for them I too wish they were a little bit more softer in the colors I love my ohuhu markers I have the 320 set and the skin tone, grey tone as well I couldn't afford the topic this closes I’ve come and I love them there are some colors there's more of and less of but I do enjoy them. I have been tempted to get a set of skin tones or grey - I really like the look of the 36 skin tone ohuhu brush markers, but I think I would get more use from the greys, decisions decisions XD thanks again for watching and have a wonderful day!

Oh no way that's awesome thank you! I'm just looking now, pretty good how it gives you the breakdown of how many refills it provides for each marker type. They actually look pretty fancy too ha, instructions seem clear. I'm excited, I hope they do the full range!

Would love to get some refillable greys but it looks like they have only released very limited from each set so far, I suppose I could buy the stronger / darker grey and dilute it with the marker alcohol. I hear of people doing that, but I'm not sure how easy it is to get the desired tone lol

@@SketchedbySte Sometimes art requires experimentation. You could start with a colorless blender, keep adding ink till you get the grey you want. If it fails, you're only out a blender. Might need to draw out some of the soaked in blender. Or buy a new blender and use one you have already worn down a bit.

Good question! I actually think both markers are incredible, but the Touchnew markers I had were bullet nib / fine nibs, where are the OHUHU markers I used here are brush nibs ( which means they are more expensive ) To me the best situation would probably be brush nib plus bullet nib on the otherside to replace the chisel, which I THINK OHUHU do, but that's just personal preference. You will be fine with either, if I had to pick one I would go for Ohuhu, but they are a little more expensive. I think they have a refill option coming soon too which mean be handy, that being said it's been quite a few years since I bought Touchnew, so things may have changed a bit since. Thanks for answering☺️ i finally bought the Ohuhu Kaala series,Ilustrations tone with the chisel brush and fine nibs( because they don't have the bullet type in this one) but It's just what i wanted ,It's so smooth and the colors are vibrant, i'm in love with these,so thank you so much!! No offense, but everyone who claims these markers are as good as Copics has either never used Copics or knows nothing about markers. Don't get me wrong, Ohuhu markers are awesome, especially for people with a lower budget. But they are definitely not as good as Copics. The Copic brush tip on its own is already so much smoother and better at blending, than Ohuhu's brush tip. I'm not even sure I would call it a brush tip. Ohuhu's don't have a real brush tip like Copics or Touch Twin or W&N have. The tip is more like a soft tip. But not a real brush tip. It doesn't behave the same way a paint brush would, which is what the tips of the aforementioned professional markers do. They create a soft gradient from dark to lighter color the less pressure you apply to them. Like a paint brush. Ohuhu's can't do that. So, yeah. No real brush tip, and definitely not as good as Copics. I mean, there is a reason why they are so much cheaper after all.

non taken! I've got copics, but not the full range, more so the grey tone sets and some other colours for skin tones and such. I honestly didn't notice a different in quality I am afraid so I thought you were just paying for the brand with copic more than anything else - but I still don't dispute that copic are the best, or at least on par with others, so if price wasn't an issue, I would go for copic sketch markers no doubt! But for me I just didn't notice the different to be able to justify a crazy high mark up in comparison. That being said I haven't used my copic range much recently so I was definitely go back and try to compare the 2 more thoroughly at some stage and take on board what you said. Thanks for watching!
