In my opinion, don't use more than a drop of linseed oil per side. Too much will take literally weeks to soak in. Use your fingers to rub in creating friction and a little heat to very slightly open the pores.

CCL Gunstock conditioning oil. It’s high end, English made, and very, very good. Not cheap, but a bottle will last you for years unless you do many guns.

Never rub anything into the checkering as it fills up the groves and diminishes the grip.

Shouldn’t you use “boiled” linseed oil to aid in quicker drying? Shouldn’t you apply the wax AFTER the boiled linseed oil has been absorbed into the wood and dry?

I can't see a problem with linseed oil on the chequering but i'm not a fan of wax in it.

Agreed. Especially when he puts wax over WET linseed oil that hasn’t dried yet. I wouldn’t do that.

The dirt he’s getting on the rag is where the barrels Forend iron and receiver meet up with the wood

Those gun oil areas should be degreased cleaned with a separate rag

We use Slippery Dicks Gun Wax they also do various oils
