Some tips for next time. You want to run engine to warm oil first. It also helps get any debris in suspension so it can be sucked out in oil instead of settles on bottom. Of course on Seadoo don’t run engine more than a minute so as to not hurt the carbon seal. When you insert the tube in dipstick hole go slow and when it touches bottom just lift a hairs width back up and that is best spot. Like you said if you push farther the hose loops back up instead of touching bottom. I also try to have my trailer tilted just a little back but not to much. Then suck out all you can and then remove tube completely and then hold throttle wide open and crank for 5 seconds. This pumps oil from filter etc back to crankcase. Pull tube out first so the crank doesn’t twist it up and that is BAD if that happens. Then after a few mins suck out rest of oil from bottom. Then remove oil filter and I suck out any oil in there also. You really don’t need the grease on that bolt because it’s in oil it’s whole life so no chance of corrosion. And for anyone doing this the first time it is normal to see a gap between the oil filter cap and body and see the edge of the top o ring. This gets asked a lot and people think it’s not in all the way but it is. That’s why there are two o rings. And like you showed add the same amount of oil that you sucked out then check the oil after running for a minute and you want the level in that dip marks on dipstick. It is normal to run it in the middle of those marks. Supposedly if it’s right at top it’s not as good as near the middle. Definitely don’t go over that top mark. I personally try to have it right above the half way point. Hope these tips help out anyone who wants to do their own maintenance. It really isn’t that hard and can save you those dealership charges. The socket needed for the oil filter is called an E-10 Torx.

Great job Gladys! I have the same ski, and use the exact same pump. Pro tip: when you take off the cover underneath the seat, pull the linq system mounts out before you take the cover off, that way the mounts will go with the cover and you don't have to worry about losing them.

Getting hosed on the oil . I use a full synthetic auto oil , and have close to 550 hrs. on my ski. Oil is $21 for 4 quarts, and $17 for the filter. That kit is just semi synthetic oil. With a supercharger, you can only run the crap oil because of it's clutch washers.

If you could tell me was there a gap in the oil filter housing when you went to reinstall it up underneath the top part I guess it doesn’t seat all the way down for some reason… I noticed that on my JetSki when I tried to reinstall a new oil filter as well I’m just trying to get some insight on it I have a GTISE 170 also

Amazon sells a 3 pack of the ngk spark plugs for the sea Doo for $12 last time I purchased them from advanced auto for under $5 each last year.

You don't need grease on the oil filter bolt threads. In saltwater areas, it is recommended to coat the mating surface of the cover with grease.

Reinstall the oil filter cover and torque bolt to 9 N·m ± 1 N·m (80 lbf·in ± 9 lbf·in).

If you follow the Sea Doo procedure exactly you can get 4 quarts of old oil out. This engine holds 5.3 quarts total so when you only change 2.5 quarts you’re leaving over half the old oil in you engine.

Good job, I will never pay almost $300 for an oil change ever again.
