You can give it an 8 quart oil capacity if you use a 2 quart oil filter.

I'm glad you spilled a little oil out of the filter as you were fitting it. You should have told people that you need to fill the new oil filter with new oil before you fit it up to the engine. We take it for granted what we know and because of that, we overlook what we consider to be obvious but someone looking to see how it's done would probably not pick up on that. Cheers.
