Thank you. I couldn't understand why you hadn't painted this as landscape, but then I realised the majesty of your mountains could not be maintained. Really beautifully done thank you again.
@ronschlorff70895 жыл бұрын
right, often a square canvas can do the trick but it is different as a portrait format, I rarely do that and have painted many scenes like this the Sierra Nevada of California; typical "majestic" landscapes such as this are everywhere there, in places like the John Muir wilderness!!
@blackopal31385 жыл бұрын
I disagree. I don't see why the majesty could not be maintained across the horizontal, what would happen though is you would lose the strength of the foreground, and that's because this is actually a more realistic viewpoint then landscape format. I love this painting for that reason. Our eyes may catch more than this in peripheral vision, but our focus is much more narrow and this painting for me gains a lot of realism because it is more comparable to an actual shot, and therefore memory, I might see with my own eyes. He helped me learn this, I'll look at all the classics again with this in mind, and I bet you some have more horizontal than is justified. The landscape format is still more conducive to vastness and distance, I believe, but standing in the mountains, this is the way to go, for sure! Another argument would point to the left side. If you went landscape what is on the left? That mountain is about to cut off your view so the left is just grey wall from there. This is a real cool painting! Also because I think it is basically impressionism, but a huge range of brushstrokes from small to huge and in a variety of shapes, plus a little finger smudging, voila, lol. I am very curious to know what the art 'establishment' thinks of his work. Peace
@ronschlorff70895 жыл бұрын
@@blackopal3138 Right, good stuff all!! About the finger painting; I find it's always nice to occasionally use the "brushes" that your mom and dad gave to you at birth! :)

I guess it's an ethnic thing. A little distracting to me.
@ronschlorff70895 жыл бұрын
@@johngrisoni772 Perhaps. And yes. I once saw one of these vids by another artist with a similar subject, all you heard was the rushing water sounds of the stream, and occasional bird song and chirps. Very effective, because having done this type of work on location, that's really all you do hear; unless you bring your own music, which I never do.

Yeah, I turned it off after two minutes, music usually adds nothing to these art vids and you can figure out what's going on, by watching closely, even if he talks about it. Great otherwise!!!

Brilliant work Babich. I love watching your videos but why do they go out of focus every few seconds? It is a distraction and a real strain on the eyes. I hope you fix it soon. Thank you so much for sharing.
@thickrebel64933 жыл бұрын
auto focus ruining the whole video. there is a plenty of light in the room for f5.6 or f8 even with manual focus, then everything will be sharp and no focus hunting. all in all great work on the painter side.

Very good painting, but wonder why the little white house is there, as a distraction, and leading the eye to it. Is it special? I'd do the pure landscape and have that be the focus of the painting, the stream leads the eye toward the distant snowy mountain, that is enough for a small painting. We understand it is a magnificent scene without putting a "scaler" feature in like a little building. But I'm a purest when painting such a scene, it is just me I guess; I don't want or like the "mark of man" in my wilderness scenes; it's too Bob Ross-ish to me, the "happy" little shack. Might be a good example of just because something is there, you don't have to paint it unless that Really is the Focus of the painting. I mainly get this is a lovely mountain scene and might even be a good place to fly fish, for example!! :D

Ca pourrait être assez bien comme peinture paysage, mais c'est quoi ses taches floues ochres dans les montagnes, et le pur blanc direct du tube c'est on dirait du lait versé.?

Very nice, but it would be instructive to have some discussion of the palette at least and a few other comments, sans that weirdo music for example! Note there's no feedback from the artist for the questions either! Odd!

"Oil Painting Masterclass" This is not a masterclass. A masterclass is conducted by a master of one of the arts in the presence of accomplished students. The students present their work for critique and the 'master' evaluates the work and instructs the student while the class looks on. There are no students of art here. There is no student work offered for evaluation. There is no instruction of any kind given. This is a wordless, textless demonstration
