I am aware the music volume is terrible. I can't edit the video and I am not making a new one, so I apologize. Hope it doesn't damage anyone's ears!

I had no issue with the music volume, maybe it is some people's speakers displaying it different.

Good video but the soundtrack was so jarring on the nerves and blasted out intermittently that it aggravated my angina!. Had to rapidly hit the volume button so spoilt the whole experience. Better luck next time...

Every time the music starts I have to turn down the volume, and you are soft spoken so then I have to turn it up. The volume of the music would be better lower to match the volume of your voice. Otherwise, I enjoyed the demo.

I have to agree. This is a really helpful tutorial but the music was BAD. Even without the jumps in volume it was just baaad music. Most importantly though, this was a really good tutorial so thanks for sharing 👍

Oh my gosh.❣️🥰 This is so en pointe. This is one of the best explanatory oil painting videos. Thank you. You brought all the important points of painting together in a very precise, articulate, easy fashion. This makes it easy for me to understand and transfer your methods to any subject. I love that you are to the point and explain and show your methods in such concise terms. It's nice to see a shorter video. I am finally pursuing my life long dream of being an artist. Thank you so much. Please keep making videos and showing your work. It's beautiful.

Thanks for sharing this Andrew. I can see you start painting green color over the under paint (@5:31 mark of the video). May I please ask, did you wait until underpainting fully dry before you doing that? You mentioned that you waited until paint fully dry (@10:02 mark of video) when you glazed second time.
@andrewyoungblom33343 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is fully dry.

Great video and painting Andrew! I really appreciated your explanations and step by step approach. May I ask is using stand oil vs say linseed or poppy oil preference or do you find it glazes better? I’ve never used stand Oil before.
@andrewyoungblom33343 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Both work as slow drying mediums, just a little differently. Stand oil is way thicker than linseed. It levels as it dries to a smooth surface. You can also mix it with a solvent to thin it and speed up drying time.
@DannySabraArt3 жыл бұрын
@@andrewyoungblom3334 Cool. I'll have to try it sometime. i've been bouncing between using liquin a lot lately or normally just linseed oil. I can't decide if it is a big deal to switch up mediums or not painting to painting. They do feel quite a bit different, but I like the drying time of liquin but I think linseed feels better.
@andrewyoungblom33343 жыл бұрын
@@DannySabraArt I like the way oil moves too. I base my decision on how quick I want/need it to dry. The rule of thumb is fat over lean, which basically means slow drying (added oil) over fast drying (solvent, liquin, etc.).

Do you allow the umber painter to dry, before beginning the color layer?
@andrewyoungblom3334 Жыл бұрын
Yes, it should dry relatively quick.

In this technique do you use all transparent paint choices, except the white?
@andrewyoungblom33342 жыл бұрын
Great question. I used transparent red ochre when I glazed the background. I was not using transparent greens. It’s definitely something to consider.

The white part smearing on the pepper by mistake was necessary imo. Sometimes we forget that masters in their craft are still human and can make errors in judgment every now and then. Most of all you showed how to fix it should someome happen to do the same in their own artwork.
@gordonanderson61732 жыл бұрын
I agree with you Sakhele. We all think experts make it look so easy, but everyone has easy times and hard times - or mistakes - during a painting. Don't let it bother you. Just step back, analyze it and correct the problem. It's all part of the process.
