It’s a water well rig. I’ve seen and brought back under control a thousand times worse then that. But all the same very cool. Riggin is the life. Joints are 30 feet long, dope comes in 20 lbs pails and there a pusher on every lease. Lots of love from Alberta.

Yes, if it's a water drilling venture. It almost looked at the beginning to be coming from the cellar an under ground blow. Looks to be a cement powder truck in the early frames. Or he could have been hauling gel.

Nah, just something that unfortunately can happen. Oil drilling a a gamble and sometimes you lose. It’s a crapshoot how much gas or oil pressure there could be in a pocket you hit.

Hydrogen sulfide gas. It's what makes "sour" crude sour. "Sweet" crude has little or no h2s.

That mud. Most blowouts happen with an unexpected pocket of gas or improper mud pressure allowing for a large collected gas pocket to form in the pipe. Either way, it’s a sad waste of time.

That’s mud. Now, it probably has a lot of gas, so yeah. Big waste. But, oil is a different color. Since this is the US that color is probably closer to the color of the mud, but it has a different refractive property. My point being, if there was oil spewing out. You’d know
