It is amazing all the moisture that in air. Humidity through and orifice collects as water with the temperature difference through an orfice

Very good product best with about 3 of them inline then a couple of big one's get a high rated big one on the air line that feeds the compressor so you catch it before it even goes in your air tank and its simple witch way round it goes its got a little drain on the bottom your not gunner drain it towards the compressor are you simple

Do this separators have an correct orientation? I just bought one and it has no indication about where I should connect the air hose and where I should connect the tools
@Airiskender2 жыл бұрын
I thing the blue cap of the separator should be up and the part with the water extraction needle should be down. That way the water has the most volume to accumulate before needing to empty it and least change to end to the brass filter part and "bypass" the extractor.
@ericmilligan35 жыл бұрын
Nice video, but which end goes on the compressor end? Is it the Blue? 👍
@not2fast4u2c5 жыл бұрын
clear side is air in blue side is out ..Just like a see through gas filter on a car ..The gasoline comes in the clear end and is is filtered through the out side of the filter.... bronze on air ...usually paper and or screen for gasoline

@@not2fast4u2c I ended up about blowing my oil separator up when it got too hot by the output of my compressor.
@danadurnfordkevinblanchdebunk Жыл бұрын
@@not2fast4u2c The Harbor Freight Tool website says "The handy oil/water separator works at 90 PSI to prevent condensation from contaminating air tools, keeping your air tools operating at peak performance." Does that mean it's not effective at over 90 PSI? Dangerous at more than 90 PSI? Or since it's a cyclonic action inside the unit that also not effective at UNDER 90 PSI?

You know you can unscrew it and put decissant beads inside it. Use a deccisant filter if you want driest air

your comment saved a filter from being discarded due to having little metallic pebbles from the tank inside it. thank you.
@jsplasha2 жыл бұрын
That would disrupt the entire mechanism in which the water seperator functions and make it essentially useless.
@pol-ek3yq Жыл бұрын
@@jsplasha i don't think it would tbh , you could really just put the whole bag in it , would do the same thing but i think it has a little needle under the filter that can be pushed in i guess it's for draining the water inside?? That's blasting shot or beads. It's used to smooth out the finish on cast metal parts. It often gets trapped inside compressors and regulators etc, if the manufacturer does not clean the parts sufficiently before assembly.

I have some water drops What is weird is I just hook it to the hose I get a bunch of water coming out the end getting past the filter

On my compressor, the outlet is directly below the pump. So when the pump has been running and gets hot, the outlet also gets hot. The compressed air flow also picks up that heat, which means the moisture in it remains vaporized as steam for a longer time. Condensed/liquid moisture is easier to separate. But steam molecules blow through the separator's stone filter with no problem. Several things you can do to make separators do a better job. But whatever you choose, the key is to cool the air as much as possible before it goes through a separator or dryer. The more moisture you can cool and condense into liquid, the more effective your removal will be. Here in south MS, 90% or more humidity is the annual norm. Without a filtering system, my compressor becomes a pressure washer--especially during the cooler parts of the year when it's easier to reach reach due point behind the hot outlet. I have 3 different strategies in place, and I get clean dry air very reliably: 1: I have an 8 foot air line between the outlet and my filtering. This gives the air some travel time in order to cool down. 2: Before the dryer, I have a what I call a "forced condenser". It's constructed the same way as my dryer. But instead of containing desiccant and absorbent mix, it is stuffed with stainless steel scouring pads. As the air passes through, the water molecules crash and deflect against all of that. This randomizes and scatters their paths, causing them to collide with one another--which doesn't happen easily when all moving through an air hose at same speed and direction. When water molecules collide with each other, they "clump", which is effectively condensing. 3: Instead of a stone filter separator, I have an absorbent dryer immediately after the condenser. Close as possible to not allow the water molecules time to re-atomize into vapor. Also, I don't use only desiccant in the dryer. I have it layered. Bottom layer is a super-absorbent polymer mixed with fine-strand pulp. On top of that is the largest layer...standard desiccant silica gel. Then at the very top, another layer of absorbent/pulp mix. The idea is that silica gel easily loses "grip" on water when fast rushing air passes through it. But the super-absorbent polymer truly does absorb and trap it permanently. The pulp fiber makes the absorbent more effect because it is much faster...it wicks the water from the silica gel and acts as a buffer while the absorbent is a little slower at permanently bringing it in and locking it down. All of the above, I constructed as DIY, using household water filter housings as the canisters. The absorbent and pulp mix, I get from el-cheapo disposable diapers from the local dollar store. Cut an diaper in half, turn the halves inside-out like you would a sock, then scrape out everything contained. That's the complete mix. Works AMAZINGLY well, too.
