Danny wrote this song about the type of totalitarianism he saw rising in the US, where he has free speech on paper but the media tries to control his mind through propaganda. He describes it in a French interview you can find on KZfaq. He discovered “inverted totalitarianism” before a term was coined for it!

The media is now controlled by the left (actually if you see above left vs right, it's the NEW WORLD ORDER). Elections as well, all surveillance. It's crazy our biggest patriot has to hide out in Russia.

Elfman wrote many anti totalitarian socialist oppression songs . Perfect System, Johnny was Bad, and Grey Matter, Capitalism, Controller, No Spill Blood are some others that come to mind.

On his new album you hear it in “Serious Ground” (about fascist rioters), “Love in the time of COVID” (about really wanting to see your girlfriend during a pandemic but afraid of getting ratted on and cancelled for breaking the rules) and “Native Intelligence” (about people being so dumbed down they will willingly take poison if they are promised a halfway normal life again afterwards)

I always thought they sold out. started out heavy and in my opinion very politically correct and probably got an offer to shut up and play some kids movies. I've looked for this on youtube over the years. It just came up do you have anymore from 1984 you can put on here .please and thanks

Sounds like you don't even know the difference between PC and Politically Incorrect. Too, Danny Elfman went to Hollywood to do soundtracks and got sidetracked into music for a while--great, incisive music--before doing what he intended to do in the first place. To 'sell out' means to have a great message and then allow money to water it down. Oingo Boingo and 'sell out' shouldn't even be used in the same sentence.
