Not sure why Mr.Tamil Takies given such a negative review of this movie, for sure its a good movie to watch may not be one of the best from Mani Ratinam. Dulqar and Nithya really given good performance through out, their energy is awesome . Compare to last few movies from Director this one really a come back. Special mention to Mastero ARR, his music given big back bone for this flick.

Sorrynga....first time I have to disagree with you. *SPOILER ALERT* The movie starts off with live-in relationship or as friends with benefits as they call in the western culture. There is actually a movie called Friends with Benefits with a very similar story line. But Mani has given it an Indian touch as their relationship turns into deep love and emotion and eventually they want to get committed to each other in the form of marriage. This is a subtle message that this movie carries. He has beautifully rendered it with another long married couple's life running in parallel with the main roles. That is just brilliant. And Nithya Menen was outstanding in this movie. She made her eyes speak!! This is such a good movie and you just sopke about the over all jist of the first half. You disappointed me a lot!

Or else this fellow does he really knows the ace director mani ratnam??? i dont think so.. I agree suhasini said something in bad taste, for that you can't target mani ratnam who did movies like roja bombay kannathi muthamittal nayagan thalapathy etc.. Even times now made a survey that nayagan is one among world 100 movies... Its the easiest way to make critics.. But we know who mani ratnam and his creations..!

Guys...this state has always recognised good movies unconditionally. We never had problems with Directors like Radha Mohan Kv Anand so on. We brought up in the era of movies like mozhi, taare zameen par and 3 idiots which created impact on our way of living. But these movies never limited the target audience to one particular group backed by age, economic status. But unfortunately mani rathnam failed over and again reaching the larger group... And covered his movies with strong youthness, fake dialogue delivery and greatly supported by ARR music and PC sriram. There are still directors who created movies like kumki, drishyam and kayal who never carried a VIP status neither a great support of music legends and still managed giving movies which rocked the screen with blockbuster.... TO ME OKK IS CRAP

As usual unbiased review. He has missed out the usual financial details. All said and done , there was a recent news news in TOI where it was mentioned Mani's craft is dated and his inability to probe things deeper into the theme he takes up is the reason cited for his recent flops. He generally has the team to augment his vision but then you need to give the theme the depth they require. I have not watched this movie and may not watch it after this review. Need to wait some more time for the old Mani..:-)

If this movie is so artificial to you, nothing surprise because it is very trendy and you are out of it! As you rightly said this movie is not for all especially people like you! Prakash raj and Leela sequence are really added weightage to the emotions. This is not a plain movie as you said, rather it is a simple love movie but really a feel good one. Sema review. Especially that Gandhi thatha story in the end was so apt. I am 24, I studied abroad for a few years. I had a girlfriend (where we lived-in together after dating a year before that). We broke up later due to genuine reasons and differences. No where this film shows the reality. No one lives-in just to do things as shown in this film. Maniratnam in a way has fooled us about this concept and has taken the audience for ride. Firstly, such relationship is a still in a very very miniscule minority in India. Whereas, majority of young Indian men are still single and those who are not still follow conventional relationships (i.e) live with parents and manage dating. By bringing this concept to the forefront in this film, he basically is targeting the majority who would be very curious to explore what the heck is this all about. I have to say he has painted too much immaturity and sensuality to such relationships in this film. In my own personal experience, live in relationships are much as a normal relationship except you guys live together. You have those same commitments, understandings misunderstandings etc etc as a conventional one. Whereas in this film he has tried to portray as if it happens overnight and only people who hardly have any commitments choose live-in relationships. This is so untrue. I felt he is basically trying to sell an 'IDEAL' concept for the youth who are very busy, facing stiff competition in their careers today to get into such relationships with zero commitments. This is in a way cultural grooming of sorts. I am quite worried lot of people might attempt such non-committal relationships and end up with broken hearts which is quite dangerous for their mental composition and health (I know how hard it is to overcome a break-up!_ Definitely mature audience and people in a relationship wouldn't give a damn about this film. But youngsters of Tamilnadu who are single and brought up in a neo-conservative set-up will be lured into trying this (IDEAL maniratnam's version of live-in) and many might suffer terrible consequences with this.
