Love this game! Carcassonne killer. Clean design, simple to explain, intresting tactical decissions. 8/10

I think all tile laying games will probably be referenced to Carcassonne, although the designers have said Carcassonne actually wasn't one of the inspirations. I think they mentioned Isle of Skye but I can't really remember. I'd say for players of Carcassonne Amazonas, they'll be more used to having to play a piece, I still get tripped up by that.
