The reason the guy was flashing the camera so much was a clever trick by the production team that conditioned the party goers to ignore the nuke flash.

To give some context, in Fallout's universe the transistor wasn't invented until much later than when it was invented in our timeline, so most their tech runs on tubes and stuff or nuclear power. It's why their TV screens and computers are so bulky still for instance. They basically got stuck in the "50s", which is why all their cars and such have that distinct style to it The bombs dropped in 2077, so it's 2296 when Lucy/Maximus and the Ghoul's stories pick up Those suits that the Brotherhood has is Power Armor (T60 variant), and is actually pre-nuclear war tech, as is most of what they use to fight or travel There are 122 known vaults, vault 31, 32, 33 are the only ones we know are connected to one another (hence their "trading", this isn't normal for other vaults) Since it's been 219 years, you can understand that most of the people in such a vault are related one way or another to each other ^^; Hopefully this helps a bit in understanding the world :)

People at the party didn't react to the light from the nuclear bomb because they thought it was the flash from the camera.
@j.f.fisher5318
@j.f.fisher5318 Ай бұрын
It's a barely forgivable justification. A nuclear flash isn't anything like a camera flash, it's like daylight got several times brighter for a second. Incidentally, only simple fission bombs have a single flash like that. Thermonuclear weapons have a double flash, with the fission primary being very quick, then the fusion secondary being brighter and lasting multiple seconds and up to half a minute for large multi-megaton weapons. This is also part of why duck and cover was so important, if one hit the ground during the first flash, then one could avoid being more severely burned by the much larger thermal flash of the secondary - that and not getting a face full of glass and/or knocked down like so many of the folks watching the explosion in Beirut and other large explosions get when the shockwave arrives.

In the Fallout universe the bombs fell October 23, 2077 Saturday morning. The first nuke hit the east coast at 945am and the west coast right after. For 2 hours bombs continuously fell on the US. One can only imagine the hell on Earth those 2 hours must've felt and looked like. Although the show changed the time of the bombing, still the same day just later on in the day, it still did amazing in capturing the feel and atmosphere of the games.

@@bevinallard5492 there are 9 in total. Fallout 1, 2, Brotherhood, Tactics, 3, New Vegas, 4 and 76. Also Fallout shelter but its a mobile game and nothing like the rest. IMO i would say Fallout 3 is better but most people agree that New Vegas is the best. Fallout 4 gets alot of criticism but is still a good game. Fallout 76 is online multiplayer so if youve got friends that one would be good also. The first 4 games came out in the 90s so just a heads up on that. The good thing though is you dont have to play any of the previous games.

All the Fallout fans collectively chuckle when you mention that you didn't think it would be this violent lol. Fallout is generally marked by violence, humor and tragedy. Been a long time fan of the games and this show was not a disappointment. Also been a long time fan of movies and TV and man it's super well written. Appreciating this one from all angles, hope you guys enjoy it! If a bit of context will help: The Cold War never ended after the 50s and 60s, it continued to escalate. Time went on but style didn't, you actually found the right term for this--Retro Futurism. All the wacky stuff in the old pulp scifi comics came true and this continues until the end of the world in 2077. The rest you will very much find out.

Love it! The Fallout show completely understands the atmosphere of the games. Along with all the zillions of props, pieces, sets, and background elements that Fallout fans recognize and love, the show perfectly understands the grit, violence, humor, satire, over the top propaganda, eccentric personalities and chaos of the _feel_ of Fallout. Think of it as an alternate-history version of the world with a 1940s/50s/60s Americana vision of a sci-fi future in which the American political view and "fear" of Communists and nuclear war set against backdrop of wildly unregulated capitalism *is dialed up to 11.* A beautifully absurdist vision, near-perfectly adapted for the screen from the Fallout series of games that first came out in the 1990s. Bethesda Games Studio and the production team alongside Jon Nolan and Lisa Joy did an insanely good job with the show, and all the performances are just _

It was the Chinese that America was fighting a war against and ended up exchanging nuclear weapons. Old lore before Bethesda bought the franchise left it ambiguous because once the world was ruined, it hardly mattered who fired first because the end result was the same anyway. The Brotherhood of Steel are remnants of the U.S. military who were assigned as guards to a top secret facility that was working on making super soldiers through genetic manipulation. When said military personnel found out that the scientists at that facility were experimenting on military prisoners, both Chinese and U.S. citizens who disagreed with the government, they mutinied and ended up shooting all of the scientists for their atrocities. Then got on the radio and openly declared that they were seceding from the government to force a response. No answer came. The day after they brought their families inside the facility for their protection. The day after that, the bombs fell. As a result of those experiences, the Brotherhood formed and made it their mission to preserve and regulate technology. The thought being that humanity can easily replace its own numbers, but once the knowledge and ability to make a laser rifle is gone, that's it, it's gone forever. On the flip side of that, clearly humanity went down some very dangerous roads technologically and so that should be prevented, so anything that tampers with humanity itself or can cause mass destruction should be destroyed.

My favorite game franchise finally brought to the tv. It didn't disappoint me. Each episode keeps drawing you in to want to watch the next one ASAP. It helps when you played the game so you know the lore, but you'll learn as you watch. Lot of people have already mentioned lore so I won't repeat it. Awesome show. The Brotherhood of Steel are decedents of a section of the military who mutinied against the government on the day the war happened. They had good reason to so no spoilers. Their so purpose is to collect pre-war technology and information, they've developed into a religious type cult over time.

In the radio broadcast about the US President, his location was "not commented on", likely to be at or en route to Whitespring (real life Hotel Greenbrier in West Virginia, look up "Project Green Island"), and with the president goes an entourage, i.e. The Enclave. Fallout 76 really fleshes this part of the timeline out, allowing players to even explore The Enclave base underneath the hotel. But you have to keep the timeline in mind, because the location of the president and the operations in West Virginia are way before most of the other vaults open up.
