Janet Jackson is one of only 4 artists that have had #1 Albums in each of the last 4 decades. Her Rhythm Nation Album was inducted into The National Recording Registry at the Library of Congress because of its socially conscious content. Black Cat was from that Album which she wrote the lyrics and guitar riffs , this song was Top of Billboards hot 100 Rock and Roll chart. She is the only recording artist in history who has had hits in 5 genre's. Janet Jackson is celebrating 50 years in the entertainment business since she was 7 years old performing with her family in Las Vegas , along with her acting and music career. She is AMAZING !

She is the first and only female who wrote the music, lyrics to this rock and roll song. She won an award for this song. She hit all genres by this time! No other female has done what miss janet Jackson has done. Not even her brother MJ. You need to watch her live performance on MTV AWARDS. FABULOUS! ONE OF THE BEST CONCERTS THAT I HAVE EVER ATTENDED. I don't think one person was sitting the entire show!

Janet is number one on my list of artists I love. I grew up on her music and was lucky to see her in concert in the 90s. Definitely check out more of Janet starting with her Control album. No she and Jermaine haven't been together in a very long time. She I believe was married to a billionaire from Qatar, but they are not together anymore but have a child together.

That white guitar player David Barry WAS out there the whole time, he actually started the song when the guitar came in! He is a smoking player and has been with Janet a long time. He eventually became her music director.

Don’t sleep on the Vernon Reid version. It’s incredible. He’s the guitarist for the band Living Colour, a black funk metal band best known for the song Cult of Personality.

I remember when this album came out I whore this album out This is about the same time Michael came out with Thriller Janet could put on a show just as good as or better than Michael to me and Janet was so fine This woman was so beautiful She could have been Janet James because I was in love with her This song brings back so many great memories My girl friend used get mad because I used to tell her how good looking she was 😂 We used go this dance club in Macon Ga and dance till they closed the doors Some of the best times of my life I am so glad you did this reaction I’m about to start dancing right now I can’t even drive this dump truck Why don’t people still make music like this Dam what happened to people making real music

She was very popular and in quite a few countries. But yeah, I felt like there was this dismissive attitude toward her in some countries as just "MJ's kid sister." Meanwhile, pop singers who have cited her as an inspiration include some of her contemporaries, like Kylie Minogue, Mariah Carey, Britney Spears, ALL the boy bands from the 90's (just check that choreography, which is way more Janet than Michael), Shakira, the Spice Girls, and on and on. She had a few breakthrough hits in Europe, but most of those stations didn't realize they were ignoring an icon. They'd rather play Haddaway and Whigfield and Rednex. She was way more savvy than the rest of her family when dealing with publicity, too - save for the Super Bowl! Rhythm Nation 1814 and the Velvet Rope are both masterpieces and her music videos in general are highly (quality) produced. Got til It's Gone, in particular, is amazing. I'm stunned That's the Way Love Goes didn't even get #1 in the UK, it was such a good groove.
