Although when asked, I tell people 'Blue Valentine' is (maybe) my favourite of Tom's albums, I find I turn most often to Closing Time, especially when I get home really late and don't feel like sleeping. And this song is almost a definition of what that album is all about. And you've a very nice job!

I loved this version!! I use almost the same chords but using a capo on the second fret. But this version is so pristine. It sounds exactly as the album. Amazing performance 100%

This version is more like the original by Tom Waits. I guess Tom wasn't really happy with the Eagles version I think he would like this and I hear he's a hard guy to please. Awesome job!

Yes, definitely. The feel and sound is great I think. When it comes to the quality of wood, I'm not sure. I think it looks fine, but it's probably not one of the prettiest Martin' though. :-) Ruff wood, but the money you spend on it definitely comes back in sound. :-)

It's a B/D# (B chord with D# in the bass). Frets are x6444x. Ring finger grabs the 5th string 6th fret then you bar the other 3 strings.

Thanks! It´s a Martin DM mahogany Dreadnought. It´s one of the " cheaper " models. I´ve always been very satisfied with it. It´s easy to play, and isn´t too loud, which I like. I never change the strings, until one of them breaks. Of course this also gives it a lower/more dead sound. ;-)

romano225 Yeah, good work. The mystery 'B' or is it? First finger on the C# 4th Fret, Middle plays nothing, third finger looks too low for the A#/Bb on the 6th fret? So it's a D# on the 6th Fret 5th string? Little finger on 4th string, 7th Fret A, but it also looks too low, so 3rd string 7th fret, making it a D? Perhaps it's also open. I've tried several ways with it, but they all sound slightly off. Is the guitar tuned half a tone down maybe???

Robin Nags I don't know what the chord is, but I'm fairly certain now that he's just barring the 4th fret, with his ring finger on the D# note. The rest of his fingers are just resting there, not on any strings. He strums 5th and 4th string with his thumb and then plucks 3rd and 2nd stings, the barred notes. This sounds right to me after the lovely F#m.
