An extraordinary musical encounter. Alondra de la Parra and Lila Downs come from Mexico, Concha Buika and Pitingo from Spain. Together they are giving a special concert in Mexico City. "Olé México" is a musical encounter celebrating the friendship between Mexico and Spain. The program at the Centro Cultural Ollin Yoliztli includes traditional Mexican and Spanish songs, accompanied by the Orquesta Sinfónica de Minería. Behind the scenes, Musica Maestra Alondra de la Parra conducts extensive interviews with Lila Downs, Concha Buika, and Pitingo. Pitingo lets her in on the secrets of the bulerías - a special form of flamenco.

Pitingo was born in Ayamonte, Huelva, Spain. The son of a Civil Guard and a Roma mother, he learned to sing flamenco at home. He is the creator of Soulería, soul to the rhythm of Bulería. He recorded his first album Pitingo con habichuelas in 2006, sponsored by flamenco legend Enrique Morente. It won great commercial success. That same year he also collaborated with the rapper Haze on his album The price of Fame, with the song La fence de la muerte. So far Pitingo has released 7 studio albums and received 17 awards.
Concha Buika was born in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. Her parents emigrated from the former Spanish colony Equatorial Guinea (Central Africa) to the Spanish island at a time when there were only three other African families living there. Concha Buika grew up with flamenco music, boleros, and rancheras that her mother heard. She became a musician without finishing school, playing drums in a teenage band, serving drinks in a bar in Palma’s Chinatown. In 2005, Buika, her first solo album came out. It was a collaboration with several old colleagues from her hometown. Since then, Concha Buika has released 9 studio albums and received 6 awards, including a Latin Grammy in 2010.
Lila Downs was born in Tlaxiaco, Oaxaca, Mexiko. She is one of the most influential artists in Latin America. She has a unique voice and is known for her charismatic performances. Lila Downs composes music combining different genres and rhythms as diverse as Mexican rancheras and corridos, boleros, jazz, hip-hop, cumbia, and North American pop music. Her lyrics often focus on justice, immigration, and women's rights. She grew up in both Minnesota and Oaxaca. Her mother is from the Mixtec indigenous group and her father was Scottish-American. Lila Downs sings in Spanish, English, and several Native American languages such as Zapotec, Mixtec, Nahuatl, Mayan, and Purépecha. She has recorded eleven studio albums and has been nominated for 9 Grammy Awards and has won 6.
