This is what I was listening to when I found out my grandma has passed away. I knew she was getting close and needed something comforting. And now, every time I listen, I can’t help but remember all of the wonderful times I had with my grandma, and for that, Mr. Gjeilo, I thank you. She will forever be with me.

There is something in his music that sets it apart from ordinary. It's simple but can create an atmosphere of calmness in solitude. I sense longing that is hard to find, it is only through this kind of music it manifest. Abstract expressionism at its purest.

😢 we just lost our wonderful little rescue dog…she was 18…the sadness was overwhelming me then I heard this and kept listening and listening and I’m finding peace, acceptance and a sweet melancholy. A thousand thanks for such a beautiful gift…

How come I’ve only just discovered all of this album? Only bits n pieces before. Love the way Ola often avoids the obvious harmonic resolutions but gives them infrequently, just at the right moment. Bach is master of the same. The are some absolute gems contained within 😊

Listening to your music is like I am left with a sweet and delicate nothing; I don't need to worry anymore. This album took from me all the heavyness of todays actualities such as covid-19 and so on.

Notre choeur (Le Choeur de Chambre de Versailles - France) a donné un merveilleux concert le dimanche 5 décembre 2021; au programme, il y avait entre autres, "Dark night of the Soul" de Monsieur Ola Gjeilo : un pur régal tant pour notre public que nous les interprètes ; tout ce que nous avons interprété de lui à ce jour a conquis les auditeurs ! Monsieur Gjeilo est absolument fantastique de talent, sensibilité, richesse, etc... Avec lui, l'émotion vous envahit ! (Marianne Nicolas-Tétard)

It's nice to see the pianoforte played by the first part of its name, instead of pounding away relentlessly at its last two syllables. Like Chopin, I always tried to make my instrument (Steinway B) sing.

Ola Gjeilo. - Night (full album) This piece of music sounds very similar to the Italian composer Ludovico Einaudi. His music is wonderfully tranquil too. This is the kind of music you can listen to while gardening or perhaps even reading. Absolutely lovely 😊 Heavenly but in a good way.

I agree with Junil C. It reminds me of the album by Richard Stoltzman, "Begin Sweet World" - Clarinet music that has this same sense of deep peace to it. Enjoying it!

As a lone soul I feel the pain in this work, not a bright pain. A gut wrenching pain, the sort of pain that plagues you for months, years. The sort of thing that nobody can bring you from, yet you still hold onto some piteous part inside of yourself that longs to find happiness, to find love and enjoy life. You get glimpses into this world but your own self cannot let you enjoy it. Rather it further ingrains the loneliness of this world, and leave you to wonder was it worth it at all.

I'm picking up some Michael Nyman, Yann Tiersen, and George Winston sensibilities in this... pure, perfect, melancholic, pensive, and elegant, but simple. So gorgeous. I plan on having this in heavy rotation and also pick apart by ear 🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹. Thank you for unknowingly but beautifully gracing my 2020. Cheers to your amazingness 🥂

Gjeilo, you really are a genius! My choir sang "The Rose" and "Days of Beauty" with new arrangements, both adapting for mixed choir, with male and female voices and making spectacular videos!
