Ola learns is back and this time I'm trying to learn the song Fictional Reality from Slayers Divine Intervention. It's a bit intricate and the intro riff is a frigging spidery one.
0:00 - Intro
1:44 - The Guitar
2:43 - Spider Riff
6:29 - Riff 2
7:41 - Riff 3

14:57 - Closing Thoughts
15:56 - Outro

I will never forget my 13th Birthday. It was a chilly Sept as I was rolling through the killer HMV Heavy Metal section with my Grandfather in downtown Toronto at the time and I saw this record on display. This album was released that week also, so I asked the employee to throw on Divine Intervention so I could hear just what this BAD ASS album cover sounded like, Slayer? Who? What? By the time Killing Fields was over I pulled off the headphones and I looked at my Gramps who instantly purchased this album for me as I became a Slayer fan right then and there... forever... Still sits as my fav Metal album of all time to this day honestly. Thanks to my Grandpa for purchasing it for me, that record projected and opened the entire world of Heavy Metal for me. Metallica couldnt even do that, not the way Slayer could lol. I miss my Grandfather everyday and Slayer as well. GREAT video! 🤘💪

Yeah my 13 year old self is so jealous of this tech that makes learning songs so much easier. It was a nightmare having to rewind fucking cassettes over and over. I was really happy when I finally got a CD player and it had an option to loop a section and also delay starting a song after hitting play. Those were game changers at the time.

Yeah, I got the album when it came out. The way Killing Fields starts, you just want to play it over and over. Great album! Great song choice and great video! Cradle of Filth "Cruelty Brought Thee Orchids". There's a lot of great parts, and yes it's a long song, but that main riff is just killer! Due to biologics (chemo-type) meds I'm on... the side effects are worse than the benefits. I don't even have the strength to push down on a string, let alone hold my guitar. One day I'll be starting over from scratch, but at least I'll be able to start over. 🤞 Never got to learn this song, but I've always wanted to. I CAN however, live vicariously through you.

I love that body style but the head stick is so gody. Pair it with the widow headstock. Also the gary golt pickups suit that color too. Killer guitar, killer riff, killer job ola 🤘

Brought this with money I got for Xmas when I was 12. The 1st slayer album i brought I'm 41 now and l still thrash it from start to finish. Heavy thrash metal at its best. 213 really gets my head banging. Nice work ola

My favourite Slayer album. It was the soundtrack to my high school years. I took some lyrics from 213 and used them in an English project. Great video man 👍🏻

Thanks again for another awesome and fun video! Yes! I’m sure I can speak for many of us in saying, we definitely enjoy watching these videos. Where you openly and honestly attempt to learn songs in a very human fashion. It is not only motivating, but it is also very cool to see you step into other player’s shoes. In my personal opinion, the more challenging and different the song is, from what you’re used to, the more entertaining and motivational your video will be. My recommendation for you is Periphery’s Scarlet. Being born in the 80s, all the music since has become part of my natural movement and bag. But, as I attempted Mark Holcomb’s style of riffing (prevalently displayed in Scarlet) I saw that there was a new approach to the guitar that I have not explored prior. I hope you take the time to try that track. Regardless, I’ll be here supporting you for as long as you are making content. Health and happiness to you and you family mate!

This was fantastic. I've spent my life trying to learn from tabs and then getting frustrated that they're wrong. It never occurred to me to use Logic to slow it down. While it's easy enough to look up how to get a song into Logic from Spotify, etc would have been a useful tip to add. Thanks Ola! I'm inspired to go try it. Please do more of these.
