3)(Shock horror)When Jointing do the bed joint first, then strike down fully the cross joint, then scrape all the snots off. Then run through the bed again. Brush at end of day. This is quicker,and easier than faffing around on cross joint after. An older Bricklayer told that 40 year ago. Before you say. Oh no ! cross joints first ! Think, this is for when you are pointing a wall with pointing trowel. Yes ,then you point in cross joints, then bed,- So as the cross joint stays in years later ! But with Jointing bucket handle etc. It's ALL there in the joints all ready. Try it. No skin off my nose, I did and do find it easier for the same results.. take care you all

Tips for Bricklayers...1)Lighter clay bricks are generally longer bricks than the darker, due the burning process, Handy when setting out etc....
@Mike_5
Garden Walls done properly but you need some re-bar sunk down into the concrete footings to stop that naughty neighbour crashing their car into them Bud

@markfiges999
As a teenager I sold brick trowels in my Grandfathers shop, mainly WHS brand London pattern, and Disston brand Philadelphia's, if only it were that easy, ........................several brickies would go through 6 or more trowels of the same make and pattern - swearing each was different , .......and when it got to Disston, some would only have made in Canada while other's insisted on USA made trowels, .................. and don't get me started on selling plastering trowels😱
@andrewsnooks9077

Mr hatch, meet Mr grin.
@marilynperks6111
Hi Bud, you mentioned Charlie C getting them down fast. As you know its all about working smart, he always has plenty of muck to lay the next brick on to, then when he scrapes off the excess it goes on the perp no point in flicking it back on the board. I know you have your own method but if you did that it would save you picking up mortar twice when you do your perp, you could still butter it but with one trowelfull and still get a full joint. (Just an observation not a criticism, give it a go)
