Old Captain America effect with EbSynth, Faceapp and After Effects (After effects aging tutorial)

Today I'm showing how to do the Old Captain America effect with EbSynth, Faceapp and After Effects. Using Faceapp we're going to age ourselves up the use EbSynth and After Effects to put it to use in making it look great!

FaceApp is a mobile application for iOS and Android developed by Russian company Wireless Lab. The app generates highly realistic transformations of faces in photographs by using neural networks based on artificial intelligence. The app can transform a face to make it smile, look younger, look older, or change gender.
FaceApp was launched on iOS in January 2017 and on Android in February 2017.There are multiple options to manipulate the photo uploaded such as editor options of adding an impression, make-up, smiles, hair colors, hairstyles, glasses, age or beards. Filters, lens blur and backgrounds along with overlays, tattoos, and vignettes are also a part of the app. The gender change transformations of FaceApp have attracted particular interest from the LGBT and transgender communities, due to their ability to realistically simulate the appearance of a person as the opposite gender.
and what is ebsynth? It's a software developed by Scrt Wpns, a Prague based team. It basically uses keyframes to start then the AI uses the base video to finish it... or I just don't know what I'm talking about lol.

Hey, love the video! Question: after I put everything into premiere it is still slow and laggy even after everything you said to do. What should I do? Speeding it up makes it go too fast, it’s the right speed but it’s jumpy

Hi krisfire! First of all: nice work dude. I really appreciate your videos. But still i´m left with a question: What can you do against the problem with ebsynth not having a smooth transition from one processed keyframe sequence to another? When i´m using ebsynth you can clearly see jumps in the video and it is exactly the frames where i gave the program a new keyframe. I hope i was able to communicate my problem. My english is still not the best

Thanks so much! It means a lot to me that you like them! You made perfect sense to me! I’m seeing a lot of people are having problems such as this so I’m going to put out a video for this! But before then, In short What I’ve done is taken the two different videos that EbSynth gives me, find the cut point I want and add a transition between then. Usually a fade between the two clips or I add another B roll clip of something else between the two. Say for example in a scene of two people talking, a reaction shot from the second person, or them interacting with something in the scene. Little things like that can help mask the transition between keyframes. Hopefully that made sense lol.

I just downloaded ebsynth and am following your instructions verbatim. unfortunately, when i get to the part where I drag my KEY folder to ebsynth, it doesn't do anything... it will not "accept" the folder.... same thing when I try to drag the Keyframes folder... very frustrating... ebsynth tutorial doesn't help a bit either. help...

plz oplz plz make a gud long tutorial about some madness who haunted us plz help us we have our walking video on gassy land but i want to change its season into wintery ok through import video in photoshop 2022 and use neural filter lANDCAPE mixture to do magic but only use Photoshop this neural f8ilter landscape mixture make shitts all video in output result are so dancy everything surroundings dancing in ice winter season after convert not a stable so i think EbSynth can al;so help on it if u use Ps 2022 with EbSynth and make a tutorial to change any season into winter icy with neural filter plzzz we need it :( ....??!!!

Hi Krisfire.. I love this session. But When I am trying I am getting black PNG images instead of old age. Could you help me out ?

Do the key frames match up? I’ve only had black screens when say I have it starting on like frame 1 to 77 and I only have pngs to 50. So 51 to 77 would be black.

@@krisfire yes. Using face app I have made the image old and trying to apply it.. but all my png are turning to black when it export. It would be great if you can suggest some tips. Also, my sequence images are starting from 00001 .. will that make any problem? Images sequence should start with 1xxx instead of 0xxx

You have to turn off "use GPU"! Slows everything down terribly but you gotta think it works!

I haven’t used this process yet but plan to. I see people commenting on having trouble with transitions. What do they mean? And how could I fix that if I have problems?

I’m actually working on a video to do on this subject here in the new year since so many people need help with this lol. But the quick and easy is that after you have your clips in premiere (or your editor of choice) then you’d wanna add a devolving transition between them to minimize the jar between the 2 output folders.

krisfire so say if I had a 10 second clip of me talking...where would I insert a transition and is it possible I wouldn’t need a transition?

It’s entirely possible there’s be no transition needed, if you only use 1 keyframe then you wouldn’t need it, and typically the transition would be be around the middle point (or where it starts looking bad) so between frame 1 and 100 the transition would be around 50, or if they video started looking funky only around 70 that would be the transition point.

Depends on how it’s done really, a regular dissolve transition won’t show too bad depending on how smooth it is and how different the footage is. Most my EbSynth transitions (from Normal to Synth) use dissolves lol.

It can you’d just have to be sure to either use multiple keyframes or keep the movement pretty minimal.

No problem! And yes! All you gotta do is have faceapp do the effect on one face, save the photo then do it again on the second.
