I am removing an old dog kennel for a customer. it's loaded with unwanted vegetation and small trees. And, of course buried at underneath it all is several cubic yards of river rock that I couldn't see when I bid the job. It's all gotta go!

Always account for unforeseen circumstances in your pricing. Inform the client that if we encounter trash, rocks, or other unexpected materials in addition to the brush, we will need to adjust the invoice accordingly.

Glad to welcome you! Great video, thanks) And my team and I are engaged in demolition and dismantling of houses and clearing of sites. You could say we make beauty. If only we could have such equipment on our team... I mean Vermeer) We don’t even have such equipment for sale.

Nice work John, and that was a nice gesture keeping your price the same. Repeat customers get perks sometimes to keep them coming back! Great work as always.

I have to avoid doing math when I do these things because all I can think about its 6 yards of material x 1/4 yard at a time is about 24 slow trips in and out of the back yard. I get bored traveling doing that stuff. But it always goes faster than I think at the beginning. Either way, good work!

You probably have customers that need fill? The pool contractors around here dump their fill to people who request it. Otherwise, they pay to dump?

Do you buy 1/2” or 3/4” plywood for that plywood path?

Half inch. 3/4" would probably last longer but to heavy for 1 person to move! I will put down 15-20 sheets sometimes for a job so don't want to be worn out before I even get started! Plywood is a pain any way you do it but necessary on some jobs.

Started out just advertising in my church bulletin. Basically local neighborhood jobs, then did Angie's List for a long time but it's not the same as it used to be. Not that it won't work for you but not for me. I've got 1500 Angies List reviews but they are useless now unless I advertise. I've been doing this for 20 plus years now so I have a good reputation going and client base. No boasting of course, it just takes time to get jobs. Best advice is to communicate with customers and do what you say you are going to do! Customers just want to be informed and provided with good quality service!

@@sammellow6275I'd also like to add some advice, first don't quit your day job right off the bat, second buy your equipment used and grow with your business load, thirdly advertising is the hardest part of it, Mr.Schott has done it for 20 years and is the best I've seen at it so his reputation proceeds him I'm sure, 20 years ago you could advertise in the phone book and the news paper and you'd be reaching both hot and cold leads for relatively low costs, today however your options are much broader but much more costly, for example Google ads average around $30 a lead but their options for our kind of work is landscaping or tree service, in other words you'll be paying for leads of people looking for a retaining wall or removing a oak tree dangling over somebody's house, so before you jump right in figure out your marketing strategy and put back some funds for it because it's as important for getting jobs as any attachments you may have. You may have it but nobody knows you have it. Hope this helps a little.
