Gosh - I can't get over the sound design and music. I just got this feeling of intrigue and anxiety in my gut once the car door closed, and it just built up until they arrived at the house. Once inside, though, I encountered a completely different beast - just this itching, gnawing fear that I can easily compare to feeling like that sound. Having experienced childhood trauma and disjointed relationships with parents myself, I deeply empathize with the main character here. This is what facing trauma is like. How his friends try to comfort him afterwards and he just takes off, I know that - I've done that. I can't really express how closely this hits to home. The father crying at the end reminds me a lot of what it was like telling my parents that they had, inadvertently, neglected and hurt me as a child. I can tell they have a lot of remorse and regret, but they just don't know how to express it to me. Good lord this got personal, but man. I feel its necessary for me to share, if only for my own sake. Apologies for how ramble-y this is to anyone that takes the time to read

They did such an excellent job making an unnerving and troubled atmosphere with the visuals and especially with music and audio! Excellent work!

This movie meant so much to me as a teenager. I can't believe I re-found this film I thought I would never ever see it again! My father just passed away recently and I can really relate to this film. He was very scary. And now he's gone. And I'm still scared somehow. Isn't that crazy? That's the effect abusive family members can have on someone. I remember sharing this with my friends back when I was barely even in high school yet. My parents divorced in 2017 and it was a very ugly divorce, and me and my mom and younger brother all wanted out long before that.

I don’t recommend listening to this with earbuds. In the dark. At 2:00 a.m.

I saw this a long time ago and now it reminds me of Night in the Woods

When the father says, "This disgusts you, right? It frightens you, doesn't it?", is he referring to the mess in the house... or to meat? The deer hunt scene is unsettling because the wolf and the deer have such similarly shaped heads. Is hunting normal in this world? Could this be the reason the mother left him?

The style gives me night in the woods vibes.

The last bit of animation with the dad is so incredibly powerful!

Two individuals, father and son...the son abandons the father's world, for what he considers a "better way"...the father, wracked with grief for all he's lost, sees his loss in the son's face...the son, needing his father but not sure why, reaches out, but finds only the part of his father that he chose to abandon...the father, feeling anguish and sorrow (but is unable to express these to the son) attempts to reach out the only way he knows...the son, knowing nothing of his father, sees this attempt as hostility...both are left with an empty heart, and are missing the opportunity to learn from each other. Moral of the story: get to know your dad kids, he might seem gruff and unaproachable, but inside he's a person too, and has much to offer...if you'd just open up to each other!

Their slim designs remind me of Courage the Cowardly Dog's Katz. It looks really good; I'll have to finish watching some other time.

Oh man, the Night In The Woods prequel is looking awesome. For real, though, that was some absolutely amazing atmospheric animation work.

I remember seeing this was years and years ago when i was really young, I had no idea it was by the same company as a lot of my fav movies!

The animation style and use of colour is so dark. But the music, sound and the initial ambiguity of the situation really gets to you. Intense. Love it. Need MOAR

The music and art style (It brings back memories of courage the cowardly dog lol my favorite homie in cartoon network 🕶️🤏). If this was a show, I'd watch it no 🧢 cap. You need to get this out there, I wanna see this as a show bc man...it has a way of making you feel.
