Also dont forget to calibrate the battery. Fully charge it with power. Then take the cord off and let it drain. Turn all the power settings to not shut down while draining battery. Let dead computer sit for a bout five hours and then charge back up. Readjust power settings.

Nic Bean Seems like a topic that’s always debated. Some say these newer lithium ion batteries don’t need to be calibrated and are best kept between 50-80%. Maybe a ounce full charge and discharge for new battery then charge as usual.

I got a MacBook Pro mid 2009 as a gift form a friend, installed a PNY 480 SSD, OS X El Capitán and fully updated it, I'm waiting to install a new battery and increase memory up to 8GB. Is working nicely with MS Office 2011 and Logos Bible software 8.

thanks dude - just upgraded Mid 2010 13" MBP to 2TB SSD & 16GB RAM - awesome....makes such a difference. Ended up using Time Machine backup to restore Mac OS, and whilst probs not the most efficient way to go about it, a small price to pay for insane speed now. Followed both your RAM & SSD upgrade videos....works like a charm! Thanks heaps dude - very helpful

Keep pressed the power button for 30 sec to release residual energy (not many people do that) 4. Replace all the things u need to replace, be very careful with dem bitches connectors and flat, if u fuck one of dem up u're fucked too 5. Reconnect everything 6. Enjoy this bitch ass almost new Mac

I upgraded my mid 2010 macbook pro with 8 gigs of RAM (up from 4 gigs), and a Samsung EVO 500 gig SSD hard drive (replacing the stock 7200 RPM drive). I haven't noticed a real performance improvement EXCEPT the boot time is about half what it used to be. The Mac runs great except for kernel panic crashes which happen constantly.

Shoud have taken out the long screws first on the back cover. Then remove cover, then the battery. Drive replacement and RAM replacement then are safe. Static electricity from carpet could have really been an issue. If you are going to put these out, know that folks who see it are looking at it as a resource. This would be a very poor resource for someone with limited knowledge trying to do this...

Asking for advice on upgrading my Macbook Pro mid 2012 So I recently started using my gf macbook and using both mac and windows 10, i love the fact that I can use both, tbh I don't want to upgrade it and keep it if i cant use Bootcamp on it. Here's what I want to do: I want to install a 1tb sdd on the main disk, and then put the old disk instead of the optical reader with a caddy, and install 16gb of RAM, then install Mojave from an usb (im currently using El Capitan and I want the dark theme) My questions are: 1. Can I install a bootcamp partition without any issues on the ssd? 2 . Can I format the old disk (with my current ios and bootcamp) to use it as a normal drive inside 3. Is it hard to install Mojave from an usb, from scratch? 4. Is it better to clone my existing drive to the ssd and then extend the disk partitions? 5. What kind of things I need to avoid in order to succeed? 6. Do I need to erase all my accounts so I dont get blocked from using the macbook from 0 (installing Mojave) Thank you so much if you read all of this, hoping for some info

Happy 2020! I plan on doing a update video on my 2011 MacBook Pro and answer some questions, but I would recommend the same brand that I’m using because I’ve had zero issues. I’m sure other brands are good too. I would also recommend going to 16GB with 1600 MHz, because it is supported and most of you on here want the max out of your old MacBooks. More ram helps with video editing and multiple apps opened. The 1600 MHz gives a 2% boost. Not that much, but anything helps for these old MacBooks 😬👍👊

Hey! Great video! Can you put the link for which screwdrivers you used? Also, there seems to be a special five-point screwdriver necessary, could you please provide the link for that?

What if we bypass the USB data clone. Will the computer reset to factory OS default and then you need to simply upgrade OS through the app store?

Great video! Question: I have the iOS install and running smoothly. If I remove this ssd 2.5” and use it as an external ssd drive on my newer MacBook Air 11 inch with better video card will that work as another iOS drive? My video card on my 2010 MacBook Pro is bad.

Does anyone have a problem with pressing the bottom of the case and it shutting off the laptop instantly? How is this fixed? I'm thinking of some type of insulator between the case and motherboard.
