I'm 44 - man this is how I look all the time when I'm rolling - like I'm lying down having a siesta. Big up Tom De Blass for showing it like it is.

45, me too. Its exacly what he said, slight angle, timing,. Wen rolled (they always want your back) keep low watch the hook and folow the momentum. Same times i need an extra color grab to pull me "up" and free my other traped (between me almost on top and him almost on the bottom) and complete the roll. Helbow inside in the color grab becouse of the triangle risk.

“Game plan: some days it is just to survive, make it through.” Amen. Almost everyone in my class is 20 + years younger. Great advice for us older folks.

I'm just a few months shy of sixty...and this is how I roll. Never thought of that sneaky collar choke though. I've learned much from Tom DeBlass.

Professor Tom is keeping it real. Thank you for this. 47 y/o blue here. These young thunder cats have all the movement. I’m just waiting and moving with them. I’m learning quickly that pressing people off oneself to s a great way to tire yourself out. Treachery and deceit is my game more than anything now.

This is excellent I’ve actually been doing this against a 20 something year old I’m 47 years old and didn’t know this was a thing makes a lot of sense to me now after watching this just wanna say thank you 🙏 I usually stay calm and pause to see what my next move is while he’s trying to move all over the place I slow him down a lot and we’re both blue belts.

Check out Priit Mikhelson's defensive system - running man, baby bridge, and hawking positions instead. You'll be glad you did.

Im 49 yo blackbelt that just broke his foot last night training against our biggest strongest most technical guy in the gym,,,then after class asked for another 7 minutes. I got tapped 3 times but i tried i still have warrior mindset just body cant respond like it used too. Survival is always first lesson remember this is for a real fight most guys will not make it past 2 minutes in a real fight. SURVIVE IS RIGHT>

Here's the best advice. Get on top, stay on top. Burn them out in modified mount and side control. The goal is to use less energy than your opponent.

this is tremendous @tomdeblass it's like ok he passes guard, why do we subconsciously except one hand on the hip and one on his neck??!!!! makes no sense but we all do it ! I will definitely shoot for this , think about we keep hands close while in mount, why not in side mount! this is completely a logical thing to do .

Started 3 weeks ago at 59 and my physical prime is long gone. So far I love it. My only concern are my knees. I’ve never had knee issues but since starting bjj my knees are stiff and I’m hobbling around, especially if I do a class two days in a row. I walk like I’m 80. Will this eventually go away or am I doing damage I am going to regret for the next 20 years. Muscle soreness is expected and no big deal but the knees ????? I need your advice please.
@richarddukard8989
@richarddukard8989 3 жыл бұрын
I'd stay away from doing a lot of standing techniques. Play more from your knees. Also, don't do 2 days in a row, let your body recover, and try to roll with the higher belts who can be more controlled, and stay away from the spazzy white and blue belts

When I die this world will be a better place, I be frowning like Scarface, I be around them demons with a mob face, Tires screeching as they open fire down by my place, Mother never calls, Father hate us all, The detective put my hands on the wall, My life is sharper than a saw, I am crude & raw, We hated the badge wearing law, I seen them beat dark skinned teens as they hands were tied, They kicked them in their faces trying to make them die, In the alley of Chicago, There was no bravo, We had no role models, The kid was 13 drinking gin out the bottle, No care for tomorrow, No one seemed aware of our sorrow, Remember when folks got shot up in his Monte Carlo?

@jacks7217
@jacks7217 3 жыл бұрын
Depends on the "street fight". As he mentioned, "Your opponent's movement is your escape". Striking relies on movement - giving you opportunities. If your opponent is intent on holding you down, other methods may be required.
