Cold start of the day with the stream crossing. Especially doing it 3 times just to film it! LOL. Cool to see the salamander. Beautiful vista too. Great spot for your coffee break. Heck yeah. Nice trip. Very relaxing. Well done. Have a great day.

Thanks Steve! I’m glad I didn’t have to do that crossing a few weeks later. Would have been much colder. Burrrr. That’s one of the reasons I don’t do that in when it gets cold.

Getting lost or confused on trail is almost always going to happen at some point when it is lush and overgrown! If anything you gain another story to share and experience when going back to that trail. This was a beautiful day you had!

Thanks Darcy! Yeah I pretty much get lost on almost every trip to some degree. lol. But this one was a doozy. But you’re right, they make for great stories.

That was a fun trip and I remember that part, me telling you we don’t follow the red trail. Lol. Good times.

Definitely good times! I should have listened to you about not following the red blazes. Lol

The chainsaw at Halloween Time 😳😳 Beautiful views up there. When I was there it was fogged in. Loved the video and area 👍🏻👍🏻
@backpackingadventures481310 ай бұрын
I don’t even think about that with the chainsaw. lol. It’s a spectacular view and even has a nice picnic table to sit and enjoy it. There are a couple other ones but this one is amazing! 👍

Jason the point Dan talks about getting confused is where Kurt let you and Matt on your side trek. Oddly enough that was 2019 as well.

Another nice video. Looks really relaxing out there. I enjoyed the storytelling. Thanks!

Thanks Rod! I think it’s one of the best in PA. It might be short but you work for it and it worth it.

Thanks again for taking us along on your hike. My friends and I did a section of the OLP in 2022 and I hope to go back and complete it at some point. A really awesome view that you should check out is at Hyner View. I think that the Donut Hole Trail goes by it (or you could just drive to it).

Thanks Barb! I’ll look it up on the donut hole trail. I got the maps and book for it earlier this year.

Really enjoy watching your videos. I enjoy hiking and recently got really into backpacking. I’m a beginner but started documenting my own trips. I’m from western Pennsylvania. I’d love to join you on an adventure and learn some things from you.

The OLP is a favorite of mine too, it's an easy trip with that one amazing view. I remember seeing nesting hawks near there. Sometimes losing your bearings and getting off the trail is easy to do, but I never got that lost before, take away AllTrails and that might be a different story 😂 I like to hear you reminiscing about some of your previous trips. The great thing is you can continue to make even more memories and have more trail adventures, even if you're becoming an old man. I am not far behind in that regard. I prefer solo trips as they are good for the soul. 90% of my trips are solo and it's a good way to recharge.

OLP is a great little loop. Not to hard and not to easy but best of all it’s a loop. I’m always turned around. That was the worst I was lost. Most time i just pass a turnoff or something and end up realizing it and getting back on track. AllTrails is an app that I don’t always trust 100%. Solo trips are great. This year, the vast majority of my trips were with others so I’m behind on solo trips. I have a trip next week with Vista Ventures and then I have a few solo trips planned for the fall.

@@backpackingadventures4813 Yep, just enough difficulty to make it interesting. Plenty of cool spots, and I like Sullivan mountain for camping if you don't mind the water carry and being greeted by snakes in the AM

How do you like the side table you have. I did the OLP twice in 2019 once in each direction it a fun, challenging, beautiful trail, but I'm also a fan of the loyalsock state forest it's one of my favorites in the state. I'm not surprised it's part of one of your favorite trips.
@backpackingadventures481310 ай бұрын
I love the table. I recently got the pocket thing that goes under it. It’s works a a case as well. Absolutely love it. But together it weighs 14oz. My next trip here in a couple days is the loyalsock trail which is steep up’s and downs so I may not take it. But shorter trips I will always bring it. Great to have. I think I will get a lot of use in the winter.

Hello Dan, do you use the same pack whether you tent or hammock?
@backpackingadventures481310 ай бұрын
Hey John! Usually it is the same. I really only change what pack i use on the total amount and weight of the gear I’m taking. If I’m going ultralight or not going for many days I can take a lighter and smaller pack. But taking my hammock vs tent doesn’t come into play in picking the pack I take. All comes down to the amount and total pack weight. More gear, bigger pack. More weight i use my pack with the hip belt. And lately I’ve been taking a lot of comfort items so I’ve been using my bigger pack with the hip belt like in this trip.
