Are you saying my Skippy tattoo is ugly?! I beg to differ! 🐶❤️ I still think you and Mark from RichardsonReads need to do your own Variety Hour. You could call it Two Grumpy Gabbers. 🤣😝😜😁 With regards to the Empress of Bailing, I say this: like a good cup of coffee, sometimes you have to wait for things to "percolate", otherwise you just get instant coffee.

I agree with you about tattoos. I have a friend who got a tat on her chest when she was in her teens, and now that she is in 50's it is about four inches lower then it was then, surrounded by a lot more wrinkles. Great discussion Steve you always put into words what a lot of us are thinking.

I also had the misfortune of being recommended that video about bookstores. He was just ogling the stores for the whole video, not actually reading or exploring what it means to be a reader. Readers use libraries, second hand bookstores, ebooks, and come from all over the world. There's no need to fly to Portugal to find the meaning of reading. I think some of the interviews were alright, because those people did read, and understood what it brings to one's life. I just wish that foolish guy with the camera wouldn't frame it so condescendingly. Maybe someone watching the video legitimately is going through a dilemma and could use some guidance, and all they get is condescension. And "golden age of content?" Maybe I'm a curmudgeon before my time, but have they SEEN what trash is published online? Reading makes you more discerning, which I think is much needed for some folks... Julie Andrews throwing books. 😂 I was just battling with that thought of my mortality and how fear shouldn't hold me back to create stuff. My writing is by no means great, but on my death bed, I won't be glad that self-doubt got in the way. I'll be kicking myself for not creating when I had the chance.

But sometimes taking a break is great for creative endeavours. When you take a break, you refresh your mind, and come back better, usually - at least for me. My ‘creative endeavour’ is philosophical/theological thinking/reading (my hobby), and my best ideas come to me not when I’m actively working and brainstorming, but usually when I’m doing nothing, just wandering about and thinking. It’s the same case when reading - when I take a break, I feel like I come back absorbing the words off a page more easily. Whereas if I’m continually reading book after book, at some point I reach a point where my brain becomes jammed, and my efficiency in understanding really low. Sometimes a break is necessary FOR your creative endeavours - in my opinion. But, I suppose everyone functions differently.

I don't know if I should yell at you for hating tattoos or hating Vonnegut? I agree with you that you change as you get older. I have tattoos from like 22 years ago that don't mean the same to me as they did. I like to think of it as a timeline of my life. I can trace things that have happened. Where I was, what I thought... etc. I am getting a Vonnegut tattoo as well. I'm getting an a-hole from breakfast of champions (one of my favs of all time) on my middle finger. I'll show it to you when its done! LOL.
