I was talking to a few people and we couldn't agree when the BMX switch from Old to mid to new I was sent a screen shot of BMX museum to end the discussion ..... A few mistakes when I was talking but you get the idea

That 1978 mongoose is my school! That’s the error I came from, but I never could afford something like that

The prices have really gone crazy after the pandemic but the prices are dropping and I have another frame I definitely over paid for but got a good deal on this

I've always looked at it like pre 80s is vintage, 80s is old-school, 91-95 is dead-school (bmx was almost killed off by the introduction of rollerblades and over-manufacturing killed alot of companies that couldn't recoup their loses, mid-school is 96 thru 05, pre new-school is 06-15 because they still had the longer rear triangles similar to mid-school, and finally new-school is 16- present with the shorter rear triangles and 2.4 tires

I don't think I've heard of dead-school, the early to mid 90's was my tean years and I was on my BMX almost every day . In my eyes those where the hay days lol

@@yardsalecycles Dead school was in 2010's to 2020 or so when bike companies in China/Vietnam almost killed off sport making cheap bike frames of good quality materials but often poor quality control so lots of frames had Manufacuring defects in welding or finish assembly and was very hard to find a brand not using these frames for most of their models unless you had specific brands that only made frames in house or use other places making high end bike frames for less then what USA or Europe can do like Japan or Korea by using a fully automated process smaller makers can't do. Most of these bikes are modern school frames but not current standards with short rear triangles. Now thanks to automation in China you can find better made beginner and mid level BMX bikes but prior to about late 2010's none of these newer Chinese frames in North America, Europe and other places could be found as Companies from China/Vietnam were pushing hard older mass production becuse China companies and later Vietnam made so many due to a BMX fad China/with Vietanm just copying and the unsafe bikes almost killed off, now China has automation in production of BMX bike frames on almost every part so 98--99/100 come out fine with only a mistake every now and then due to cheap robots used or a bike getting messed up on assembly line, for all better made bikes and not some of the super cheap frames direct from China are either made same as Dead School era using slave/prison labor or bike frames still from the dead school era a company can't get rid of unless sold for very cheap.
