This old model impact driver is from Makita. I think it was created in year 2003. It is 9.6V power tool power by Nicd battery 2.0Ah. In this video you will see I rebuild the battery from Nicd to Lithium battery, also the charger was converted from Nicd to lithium too. There are a lot of rust in inside the impact driver. The dc motor and gears are rusty. Luckily the switch is still working very well. After the restoration and drilling test, I feel like I'm using new tool.

Upgraded from an older 18v kit. kzfaq.infoUgkxW1vOBRCMrgTCDEijzpVzDWsgI-Jm2iQv I independently chose the drill and impact tool, before I came across the kit.I like the 3 speed impact gun. It seems more powerful than my older one, and it can be set to be really gentle. The drill is more appropriately sized for my use. I used to have a hammer drill, but I did not like that it was so big and it was not a great hammer drill. I rather have a smaller drill like this, and then get a corded hammer drill for the odd case I need that.

The inside of this drill looks like someone used it for a boat anchor. It's quite impressive to see something this bad be brought back into useful service. One less in the landfill is also a big win in my book as well.

You're just a magician, it's unbelievable what job you're doing. A small point I want to emphasize is that you apply too much grease,If the engine runs hard for more than a few minutes the grease will start to heat up and may become slightly liquid,My advice to you is to apply less grease.Thanks for the fun and instructive video.

Love this vid! That’s a pretty cool makita. I have some questions where did you find new labels or did you make those? Also does the new lithium charger charge batteries slower than than the regular charger?

You need to do some sanding and polishing on the plastic housings of the things you take apart to make them look more like brand new because they will be shinier and have fewer imperfections and scratches as well as doing the same thing to the carry case

Restoration is great as always, I have to ask - what brand of tape is that? I can read 'Earth Tape' on the label but I can't seem to find it - it seems like some kind of insulating VHB tape? Also, love the micro-puller at 3:36 :D

Are you getting the labels on them from somewhere? Or do you design it from a computer and make it yourself? Also do you wash the storage box?

You can order replacement labels online. I have seen them on ereplacementparts.com but they might be available elsewhere too.

@@Akc64 не многие шарят настолько. У меня в компонентах и схемах тоже всё туго, хоть и учился на звукотехника. Зато в механике - шарю. Да и в монтаже электросетей тоже соображаю. Просто кто-то крутится в этом (ремонт плат разного рода), а кто-то просто восстанавливает для функционирования инструмента и красоты, не изучая настолько подробно данную сферу ремонта.

too much grease O.o OMG but nice repair of that poor old thing i think it was rather expensive in that time.... and it's still pretty useful! look like it's light and rather powerful! well for the battery i would have do the same setup as original so with 18350 instead of 18650 but with lithium or whatever modern battery as you did for have the same voltage and way more capacity than originally. also, for your charger not a bad idea but now you have a nicad and a lithium battery charger that are exactly the same don't mix them..... or it's gonna make nasty things.

How does the motor handle the nominal voltage of the lion cells vs the nicad packs. I smiled when you wrote 12v 3ah but with continued use is it likely to affect the motor/electronic components?

I think the motor is going to wear out faster.

A 9.6V pack running on 12V will heat up more under load and might let the smoke out if you don't give it time to cool. Under lighter loads it doesn't really matter.

You shouldnt have modify the charger, as long as there is bms it is okay, it cuts off voltage when it reaches 12.6V.

I am very curious, how you manage to pull out over 13V from 3 li-ion cells connected in series assuming that VTC5A is not a high-voltage cell and you use an standard BMS board designed for 12.6V max.
