Very nice watch. I like the design and warranty is a major attraction point for me as well.

Thank you for watching! I actually made a mistake regarding the Arcturus Promise... Post warranty 50% discount is valid for... 10 years, not 8...

Hello and thanks for this video. It's always a pleasure to see this kind of vid, viideo showing how some microbrands could do a real good job. And these guys from Singapore are doing a good job, no question about that. But this dress watch, maybe because of the tourbillon, is clearly too big. I prefer their first watch. Thus I'll not go to their Kickstarter but I wish them to succed.

Thank you for your feedback! I do agree there's lots of value coming from the microbrands scene and I do my best to feature as many as possible.

Thank you! Not the most affordable on this channel, but the most affordable quality tourbillon for sure!

Mixed feelings, but at the end over 1k for a watch is just too much for me :/

Let I just be clear, a watch with these dimensions will never sit right with me, so no matter what it brungs at what price, it's starting off on the wrong foot. Inevitable with a tourbillion movement? I actually dont know enojgh about those movements to say, but I guess it depends: probably inevitable with an affordable tourbillion movement. It's worth noting that even in Switzerland the benchmark for thag has been moving, though rather inching under ten times the price of this. So, the value proposition is clear, but the dimensions will only be right for some, and that is likely to also apply to the neotraditional styling. I expect this watch will have its fans, but is unlikely to be ome widely distributed or a high volume seller. Perhaps I'm underestimating how many enthusiasts would want to own an attractive tourbillion, but previously could not afford one. Tge more interesting aspect of this watch is its styling and layout. The arch of oversized yet underemphasized negative applied roman numerals works a treat framing the dial with a circular six o'clock complication. The very rounded cushion case might have benefitted from a slight variation in finsihing accents, but the bulging curves feel very congruent. The handset is almost playful and certainly more modern, bridging traditional guilloché to inventive hour marker application and the faux-organic impression of the mechanics on display. The years developing this ensemble were well spent. The guilloché works well, but the aventurine actually looks smart too. For the price of an entire aventurine sporting mechanical watch, the markup for it is entirely ludicrous however. What were they thinking with that?! Ultimately, what I am recognising is that Arcturus woudl have an opportunity to redevelop this dress watch with something like a small seconds complication. Put in a thin automatic movement, reduce the footprint to a dress watch appropirate 37-38mm diameter and massively reduce the thickness, and this layout with very similar elements could make a very attractive dresswatch at yet a more compelling price in keeping with the reduction of mechanical complication. I'd be interested in seeing the reuslt of such model evolution, but I don't know how Arcturus see themselves developing. I hope it won't be another 6 years.

Always a treat reading your thoughts, and that's why I'm actually disheartened at not being able to start off our collaboration with this one. Your points are obviously valid, but I have to bring some context, obviously. First off, Swiss manufacturers do manage to offer smaller tourbillon-equipped watches only because of the Swiss (mostly in house) calibers they're using. And that, as with all grand complications, is the reason for the big money they ask for. An affordable tourbillon can only be built around a Chinese caliber. Granted, there are smaller Chinese-powered tourbillon watches on the market, but take a closer look and you will see they will all be taller. In designing the watch arounde the SL5200, Arcturus have opted for the thinnest possible caliber. One of my close friends was over the moon when she found out I'll have a tourbillon in for review. She tried it on and, despite having an under 15 cm wrist, she loved the "oversized look". I'm pretty sure there are others just like her. On the other hand the watch wears smaller than a Bulova Lunar Pilot and, despite constant complains about it, that one's still Bulova's best seller. I said it in the review, the markup for the Aventurine seems a bit steep, despite it being, in my opinion, the best looking of the bunch. That being said, guess which Early Bird model was the first to sell out? As for future plans, I'm afraid Alexander will continue designing watches HE will wear.

@@watchyawant yes, I'm not movement buff, but aware of the context. The fact is, in order to pull off watches like this, I suppose I'd like the Chinese to attempt microrotor tourbillons that reduce both thickness and footprint. If that will happen, I don't know. Horage is working on one in Switzerland, but I think it'll still be around 10k if I'm not mistaken. I'm not entirely surprised that when wanting a specific watch and/or complication, one might be prepared to part with a bit more cash, but at that markup I am a little surprised the aventurine has done so well. It is, however, the material of the moment. I was a bit tempted by Loresum's moonphase, but ultimately don't think I will. There are a few details that I am not sure they resolved well and I should keep a firm check on my spending! Venezianicos aventurine is another interesting one, maximising on the material, but that dressy watch should be smaller and thinner to really hit the sweet spot in my opinion. Ultimately, I think aventurine is not a must, for me, but stamped guilloché has a tendency to come across as a 'cheaper option', though I'd be hard pressed to be able to discern quality differences between stamping. I'd love to do a close inspection comparing stamping, CNC, and rose engine turned handwork. Finally, whoever can accept an oversized watch will have one that still manages elegance in this one.
