Love what Beam is doing!

I have both, JDSBBP Rye smokes Old Overholt. Old Overholt it very very good but falls short of JD, especially if you factor the lower proof and the higher price.

Sounds like a great bottle. I am not into ryes that much currently. I have Old Overholt BIB, but have not cracked it open yet. I do like Pikesville, New Riff Balboa Rye, Lost Monarch, Outryder. I just received an 8 ounce sample of Thomas H Handy Sazarac Rye Barrel Proof. Looking forward to trying it. 🥃

I’ve heard great things about the Old Overholt. I haven’t seen it yet, but I’ll keep looking.

Okay, I got the OO10 and the JDSBBPR. The OO10 is nice. I’ve only had a glass of each, so take this for what it is worth. Nothing wrong with the OO10. It’s a bit what I expected. Everyone’s tasting notes are right on, but I get a lot more “orange colored fruits” along with the leather note than others mention, and the cracker jacks/caramel/peanut of course. It’s very good. To me, the JDSBBPR blows it out of the water. Maybe it’s the particular bottle I got, but it is INSANE. To me, this is my easy whiskey of the year pick. C923 has come and gone and will never be again, but the fact that this JD is now going to be a regular release and eventually an every day on-the-shelf product, for how freaking good it is, at $70, it is an easy WOTY choice. This bottle makes almost all the other higher end higher aged rye whiskies a lot less relevant to me. It’s spectacular. The regular JDSBBP isn’t a huge hitter for me. The last bottle I had was fairly astringent/bitter. Maybe just a bad bottle. The rye is 10x better though, for me.

I still get Pikesville Rye for $39.99 so....... 😂

Great comparison bourbon bill. My fav rye to date is Knob Creek Cask Strength Rye I still hunt for those, so I gotta buy me an old Overholt 10 and a Sagmore 8.

Another good review. Decided to pull the trigger and order one. Too many whiskeytubers liking this bottle not to get it. Had to pay a little over retail plus delivery but I have been searching for this bottle in my area and haven't seen it anywhere.

I love the OGD 114 bottle shape. I would love to try this. Always hearing good things, I’ve only heard people complain about the price. Great review.

Having a nip of OO 10-Year right now, very nice!

I read somewhere that this is the standard Beam 51% rye recipe, but they have some stock aging that’s 80% PA Monongahela rye and they’ll switch over to that when they’re ready. Hope it’s true because I love me some PA rye. Maybe it’ll be a sweeter, nuttier Dad’s Hat-esque age stated rye? A man can dream….

I have a hard time pulling the trigger on this because everyone keeps giving the same tasting notes, and it just doesn’t sound like the profile I want out of a rye lol. I want my rye to taste like a rye!

Okay, I picked up a bottle, along with the Jack rye. If either of these are deep dark and rich we’re gonna have fightin’ words. 😂😂 (jk). I’m excited to use the OO10 for our whisky club event. We usually do 3 blind tastings when we meet, and my plan is to do the Bernheim BP, the JT Meleck cask strength rice whisky, and this OO10. I can’t wait to see their reactions after the reveal that none of them were bourbons. I’m going for the big bamboozle.
