OLD Railroad Crossing Uncovers Secret from 1962
The rail is from 1950 which is older than I Love Lucy and living here all my life, I'd never heard anyone speak about the other half of the wye that was here in Hialeah at one point in history. Join me for some archaeology in South Florida in this video!

I live in southern suburbs of Detroit and we have suffered the loss of industry, the factories that used to be here are gone along with the jobs and tax base. The environmentalists see this as "progress" and have some fantasy about a green belt along the Detroit river. I say bring the factories back.
@armandoperez7967
@armandoperez7967 Жыл бұрын
Mr Schreiber, I couldn’t agree more! These environmentalists say they want everything green. They don’t want to give up their electricity or their lifestyles! How about them trying to live off the land, eat what they grow, and use a horse for transportation? Oh, and build their own house from old trees and make their own clothing? They have no response!

That corridor is plenty-wide they could have two tracks in there. It looks like it's been a while since a freight car has come down there and was that possibly a scrap yard on the right? 100% on regarding the other leg of the Y with those weird curved buildings that don't make sense unless there was a track there once upon a time. Apparently that's the new location for the new furniture chain featuring Dade County dresser and Caribbean crib discount store. Also you're going to have to get down to New Orleans to visit the national voodoo Museum. Looking forward to the next two phases of this tour anything with Rusty rail fences and rough looking right-of-way indicates good stuff lurks around the corner. PS. Fantastic! I love these mini series and the historical content! Maybe you could become a history teacher Railrol. You are right about the building curvature. If you go to NW 7 Ave. (US 441), and NW 22 St, you will see the building’s curvature where the track was. I remember when there were cantilevers there and when there was a downtown SCL yard where the Miami Dade College campus is now as well as the interchange track with street running that connected to the FEC. Yes, this dates me.
@armandoperez7967
@armandoperez7967 Жыл бұрын
It is amazing that the yard right by Interstate 95 was always full of boxcars, bulkhead flats, tanks, etc. there must have been a healthy interchange business with FEC to account for this. I fully agree with you that NAFTA was a disaster for US manufacturing, but the powers that be started to get rid of our industry in the ‘70s if not the ‘60s. It breaks my heart to see so much industry leave the country! If I didn’t know better I would swear that the politicians were actually destroying the nation on purpose. Then again……

There is a site called “South Coast Rail Videos” that makes me happy and sad at the same time. I thoroughly enjoy it because it shows not only the abandoned line being restored, but the spurs as well, and customers that stopped using the railroad long ago going back to rail service! The Mass Coastal Railroad has partnered up with the MBTA which will run passenger trains on the line. The Mass Coastal is bending over backwards to please the customers and get more business! If it can be done in Massachusetts it can be done in South Miami Dade County! That is the sad part!
