This is the first project for my kitchen remodel. This refrigerator came with our house and although it's a bit dated it still works fine and I actually prefer the freezer/top fridge/bottom layout which seems to have fallen out of favor in most new fridges. I'm also not the biggest fan of stainless appliances. I figured painting it and making a new handle could make it stand out in a good way with our new kitchen.
I used Benjamin Moore Advance semi-gloss paint which is supposed to be very durable. I was happy with how flawlessly it sprayed and settled. Most of the work was prep: cleaning, sanding, cleaning again, taping off, priming(I used Zinsser BIN primer), sanding the primer, cleaning....
The handles are made out of ash which I stained with Minwax "Golden Oak." I used Varathane semi-gloss water-based poly for the clear coat. I thinned it and wiped it on in five coats.
