I don't think 1940's correct. Online it says built 1931, although it might not be from then either. I'm guessing the 1940 listing means unknown, I've seen 1940 used for various unknown install years. Freight elevator that goes directly into a classroom? That's very strange. Occasionally I might see an elevator MR in a classroom but not the actual elevator.

Hey the wildepper do you know anything about the KZfaqr that had videos of Crestwood court thr day before it closed he took his channel off some years ago and nerver said anything
