This is one of the best John Deere 95 combine videos. Thanks so much! My stepdad had one, used for harvesting wheat and milo. I loved riding in it with him (which didn't happen nearly as often as I would have liked, compared to unlimited amounts of riding with him in our Wagner WA17 or JD 4010 -- the 95 cab was a tad cramped for a 2nd person, and I think he was concerned about a kid getting hurt around a combine, especially during the stress of wheat harvest). We also had corn, but I never saw him using it in corn, or having a corn header for it, so I have no idea how we harvested corn (I was in grade school by the time we started raising corn). He also had a Hesston Headhunter for it, to pick up downed milo. Regrettably, he passed away when I was 8, and we sold off all his equipment. But I loved listening to the sound of that 95 combine.

We had three of these in the seventies, and that's what I learned on, at eight years old I would run in second gear with variable speed wide open and unload on the go with 14' header in soybeans . I truly loved those days when everything on the farm could be repaired by the farmers without wondering what electronic bull was going to be shutting you down.

thats gotta be one of the sharpest old 95's in the country anymore. What a beautiful old 8650...Shiloh Valley is owned by Tom Renner...his grandson has youtube channel Renner Stock Farm. They started their own tractor show opposite year of Half Century Progress Show.

dad had a 105 with a 6 row corn head the same era as this 4 row back in the 70s the 105 was a diesel had a 404 same as a 4020 the corn back in those days wasnt nearly as good of yielding as the corn of today so id imagine that 95 has all it wants lol

Didn't Deere have one size bigger, a 105? I think we had a neighbor who ran a 1,000 of his own and then probably that much again custom back in the early 1970's. Biggest problem back then was hauling it away from the field. 1855 Oliver pulling 3 gravity beds was what we did. Very little on farm storage.

If they did 2000 acres it must have taken a very long time.

I had one in the early 70s. Chevrolet gas engine, feeder house was a part of the head, 80 bu grain tank, manual auger swing. I heard something about 2000 acres. Not with this machine!

it handles that four-row head pretty good. what kind of ground speed are you doing? My guess is about 2mph.

Can anyone else answer my question? Why so slow? I mean nothing is just crawling or is it because if you go any faster it couldn't handle everything coming in.

That's about the speed of 1968...lol .. actually doing pretty good... that is some heavy crop going in there.... look at the huge residue left after threshing...
