I thought your clean tone was pretty dirty till you turned the volume up and hit the overdrive suddenly when you turned them off the clean tone sounded so clean 😂 Nice tips on the gain staging brother I been trying to figure out how people efficiently switch between different sounds this definitely helped thanks!

I love using this kind of approach, because it gives you way more dynamics drivewise... You can control the amount of gain used like changing gears in a car... I love seeing dudes like JD Simo, Jared James Nichols, Gary Moore, Rory Gallagher and even Slash constantly riding their volume to achieve the best possible gain tone for that particular part :) I use a 1987X plexi myself, because I find Plexi amps sound the most organic and clean when using this technique ;) But it works with any amp that doesn't have tons and tons of gain in the preamp... BTW love your videos Leon!

Yeah it's so dynamic and expressive. Gary Moore's After Hours Live is a masterclass in that area.

I play mostly funk and soul music, so for me it's a big loud clean fender twin with like 3 high quality drive pedals set from edge of break to med gain, a clean boost and a fuzz

That sounds like a fun rig. What year is your twin?
