This is a tutorial for compiling and running the alpha build of the MegaAntiCheat client. The reason we're encouraging people to run the client at this stage is to gather community feedback on what we've got so far and encourage those interested in contributing to do so.
As of uploading, the alpha build only offers basic functionality for marking cheaters, similar to Pazer's TF2BD. The promised functionality of uploading demos to a central server for scanning will be completed by the release of the "Bot Crisis Part 2" video, and conviction of cheaters will start at the release of Part 3.

yeah you gotta be careful with that one, it deletes your BIOS and replaces the whole OS with a line of text that says "rise and grind". you'd think the guy who made it would've been too busy reposting bateman memes to write any code

I think the final product needs to be as simple and fast as possible to install if widespread usage is the goal. Unfortunately a lot of people may be turned away by the process being more involved than running an executable or batch file.

Indeed, the Alpha is just for devs and those who are very interested in an early look. In beta we will distribute executables without the need to compile from source.

Formal language systems, computability, discrete math, set theory, etc. Literally none of that matters here. It has little to do with computers themselves. SENG is the development process of software. Gathering requirements, dividing work among a team, architecting the project, documenting it, developing it, etc. None of that matters here to a user. This is simply using a computer

If yall wanna run it faster rather than pulling up the powershell everytime you wanna run it you can make a .txt file in the backend folder and just type in cargo run, hit save and change it to a .bat file or .sh (dont know if .sh will work as i dont have linux) and it should just start running when you click on it

You got corrupt "trusted" players in your database. One I know uses "Peter Griffin" as an alias. High level account but definitely uses rijin silent aim with demoman. How'd I know? I reverse engineered a cheat myself that detects other cheaters. I got clips of him revealing his silent aim by turning it into an aimbot on my perspective th a t makes him look like he's snapping to people while running backwards.

he's had a few of his staff called out in the best for abusing the database as well as using alts to cheat on ruining others fun, he's aware of this but sadly nothing is going to be done because they are his friends and anyone who tries to call them out on it gets banned in his server if not harassed by the members refusing to believe or even listen to anyone even with proof. the database is also easy to abuse because you can just flag anyone even someone you don't like as a cheater anonymously and potentially cause problems.

FYI for anyone else not able to get the "cargo run" command to connect to your game... Seems this doesnt like it if you have custom binds setup I have a cfg folder in my custom folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf\custom" with a autoexec.cfg If i added the text into this custom autoexec.cfg it works. Also if you use MasterComfig it has a .vpk and a .vpk.sound file in the above location with no autoexec.cfg Deleting these 2 files this will then also work Im not sure how to get the autoexec text added for the MasterComfig setup at this point. Will update if i can figure that out

Gonna be great to pair with pazer! If in the final release you can add support where if one is marked on pazer it will do the same with your program, so Pazer's list will be compatible

@@megascatterbomb I believe having to do a simple double click and done is the best way to get the maximum reach of the tool possible is important, less hindrance to user, the more installs, (ik it isnt that simple and much much more complicated) the larger the blockade for cheaters in causal, you and your team are driving force of keeping cheaters out of the community so best of luck and have fun doing it ❤

Admittedly it's been a while since I've seen the original video, so it might have been answered in there, but here's my question: There's like 18.3 billion bot accounts that the bot hosters have up and running (exaggeration). Are there any measures preventing these bot accounts from using your plugin and poisoning your datasets? Even if clips are manually reviewed in the final version, what if they just spam data with the plugin? How can they be reviewed if there are so many of them?

There will be a simpler method for installation once beta rolls around. Most of the programs (git, rust, etc) are for development, and thus required to compile from source code. This alpha stage is just an initial step for those willing to invest their time to review and improve upon what we've built so far while the main dev team focuses on another part of the project.

You probably want to change the listener IP in the autoexec from 0.0.0.0 to 127.0.0.1, so it doesn't accept connections from other machines

What’s stopping someone from modifying a demo recording to make it look like some was cheating after the fact? Is it possible for the anticheat to verify the legitimacy of a demo? If an individual, or group of malicious people has it out for a player, and enough know-how, whats stopping them from editing and submitting multiple illegitimate demos made to look like someone was using silent aimbot? Is this entirely a trust based system? This has probably been considered and been covered in a previous video. Apologies if I’m wasting anyone’s time.

In the case of editing a demo file I think that would be pretty difficult to do. Demo files on the source engine are pretty much just a captured version of the information sent to and from the server during gameplay. I also think the idea is to have it be automatically uploaded after the match so you wouldn't have time to tinker with it. You're not wasting time you have questions

Whats your thoughts on Tacobot using this, marking people as cheaters and cheater supporters ("cheater friends" 12:05)? Greedy players WILL kiss the feet of hackers in MvM (based off WeezyTF2 poll) and give them chance of getting australiums, then cheaters laugh at them and after MvM game ends they go to cheat in Casual gamemode.

Most likely something wrong in your autoexec, make sure it's not getting overwritten at startup, it's not autoexec.cfg.txt and it has the right text in it.

While the general idea is interesting, I'm quite concerned that this project will lead to people labelling players who are good at the game as cheaters. I already see this quite frequently in the game, like when a spy goes into invisibility but gets shot anyway because his movement gets predicted. Accusations of cheating ensue, even though a player who knows the map well can deduce where they would retreat with a decent probability. One of my friends is a genuinely good sniper main, I've seen him play IRL on several occasions, he's got competitive level skills and he gets accused of cheating like every 5th game, because people think its impossible to land most of your headshots. I hope that good care is taken to avoid this issue.

one of MACs sole purposes, is to 99.99% eliminate all false positives as much as possible. All demos will be thoroughly checked and peer reviewed multiple times by veteran TF2ers
