Yeah that's bullshit I've brought a knife to many fist fights and got stun locked and knocked out, where as Ive sliced a fucker 5 plus times seeing him gushing blood and still take me out. WHY?!? Sharps don't have the shock damage compared to blunt. Unless it's a firemen axe or wood axe or sword

If I’ve got a knife n the other player has a hammer/bat,all I need is one or two cuts then just keep out the way n let them bleed or flee

I've killed 3 freshies with hatchet and knifes with just an old double barrel shotgun. I'm talking level 4 bleeding and win but loose fully geared to a bum rusher with his fists. They're also really obvious spots to make bases, so they get discovered more quickly & by more people, maximizing your chances of getting raided. Risk reward kind of thing. Same as making a base in the Dambog bunker, for instance.

@@tanybrachid That's sort of my point. Castles are, by nature, easily defended, which makes it easier to block others from not just the weapons but the apparel too. The devs have made it so that it's easy to block an entire server a certain type of gear which is made all the worst by how OP this gear is.

Not worth it dude it doesn't protect you like a helmet does unfortunately 😕 the torso chain mail really is all that's great. The leg armor can save your life but you'll be so slow with any vest and back pack

@@matty92k helmets in dayz are already pretty useless imo, one shot from a 556 even to a assault helm will leave you uncon and at red health, after that you are pretty much already dead.

@comic pretty sure a combat helmet will stop 2 5.56 and 1 7.62 but I could be very wrong with new update. If what you say is true it makes sense why I see plenty of no helmet players. Have you been able to repair a sword? Ive tried sharpening stones and everything else but no luck. It is only badly damaged as well.

we already got dayz v2? back in 2018 when they completely remade the game, i would consider that dayz v2 but we arent getting anymore overhauls to dayz probably for the rest of the games life spawn

An "executioners sword" is not a fighting weapon, but a tool used for decapitation of condemned criminals, and sometimes as a symnol of judicial power - a kind of portable guillotine in a way. It's going to depend entirely on the context; against whom; the type of blade; the culture in which it's used and a whole host of other variations. Look at the geometry and balance point of a sword from the Migration Era and tell me it's better to use it as an estoc... Similar examples are everywhere - especially if you look at the history of continents other than Europe. An estoc strike will generally be more deadly in the long run, but it generally lacks the ability to stop the enemy immediatly. Besides, during a panic rush, most people will tend to give a cutting blow.

During the migration era, most people wearing sowrds also had mail armor, lorica segmentata or similar. against such armor, trying to cut with a swords just turns the sword into a rather ineffective impact weapon, less dangerous then a mace. A strong thrust on the other hand could end you rather quickly, armor or not.

With some types of sword you can indeed stab through mail ( not plate) but those kind of weapons didn't exist at the period we are talking about. They weren't idiots (and obviously knew the effectiveness of a thrusting blow - the most common weapon in the battle field being the spear), this is a conscious choice that favors the useful impact surface of the blade at the expense of an "effective" point. (well still effective enough to shove it in the naked face/neck of your ennemy) similar designs can be found all over the world. This combine with a handle that indicate a "hammer" grip and a overall point of balance far from the hand clearly indicate that those ppl prefer to cut with their sword. A reasonnable choice when the only type of armor in use (and not for the common soldier) was a mail short that don't cover your arms. But yes, i want to stab with my sword in dayz

Back then: Hit someone in the head with brass knuckles / frying pan: Instant KO In the leg with a sledgehammer or axe: broken leg. Bash someones arm a bunch: broken arm. On their screen it wouldn't always be represented accurately because of lag xD We still have this problem nowadays though. But it still mattered where EXACTLY the attacker hit you, and if he had the skill to intentionally aim for those areas. Nowadays: hit someone in the little toe with a sledge twice: he dies. Hit someone full force in the forehead with a sledge: He does a fortnite dance and kills you after shrugging it off.

@@tczm7269 There is no feeling you just get locked in an animation, you dont have to aim for the head, since they removed the headhit box for melee and overall the skill has just been removed. No need for good aim at all.

​@@Tempie38 If you block, you won't get stunlocked. If the enemy performs a heavy attack, shut them down with a light attack. If the enemy spams light attacks, block until they have to regen stamina and then go for a heavy swing. It's not that hard. Let's compare that to 0.62s melee system with consistent hitreg and animation desync problems, and where people just ran in circles, hoping to hit each other when they eventually passed next to one another. What we have now plays far more realistically and smoothly than the trash in 0.62. Also, all your complaints with the current system just boil down to git gud.

I like the way you say git gud when im saying the more skillfull system was better.
