My Grandma Josephine would make Cornbread, Buttermilk and Sugar for a snack and my Uncle Lee, would pour his coffee from a Coffee Cup into a Saucer and sip it, when I was a child I would stare at him and later asked my mom why Uncle drink coffee like that.

@@sandrathompson2219 my grandparents and my father did the coffee in the saucer thing too. Weird. Probably because they boiled their coffee to a scalding hot temp and then poured it directly into their cups. Who could drink it that hot? But dumping some into a saucer allowed it to cool rapidly to drinking temp.

Miss Brenda, as you were assembling the dough, I realized that those are the same ones that I make, with the exception: I use 3/4 tsp. b. powder and 1/2 tsp b. soda. I worked at a nursing home as a cook for a year and a half. When I didn't know what to make for dessert, I would make these peanut butter cookies. Everyone enjoyed them. One of our residents used the cookie as a biscuit. Isn't it amazing that out of the dozen (give or take) residents that lived there, nobody had a peanut allergy. Today, it seems that every other young person is allergic to peanuts. I truly enjoy watching you cook. You are a blessing to anyone that watches you. May God continue to bless you.

I’ve had many peanut butter spoons as a child. Occasionally I still do. After supper during commercial time while we were watching the Monday night movie, Mother would go to the kitchen and make all of us one with a napkin wrapped around the handle of the spoon. That was just a little something she did to make our time together special. I had just turned 15 when she passed away. I’m 54 this year and I’m thankful for both my wonderful parents. Thank you for surprising me with this wonderful memory. May God Bless…

Brenda, when my husband was in graduate school in Tuscaloosa, we lived at Northington. When I first saw our apartment, I cried. We we’re coming with our year old son from a cute little house we had been living in to this place that had no bathtub, only a metal shower and no light fixtures, just bare bulbs. I could go on but I can truly say we enjoyed that time so much. Oh I had a teaching job at the county high school across the River.

Yes, my boys ate so much of it, I was always running out of Peanut Butter! Besides the great smell of peanut butter cookies, I loved the day they made homemade rolls. That's what would drive me crazy. You know the kids around here don't get the lunches we used to get. Nothing is homemade, its all frozen and all they do is throw it in the ovens. Sad. I loved our school lunches, they were always delicious. We had a regular meal, usually a slice of meat, 2 vegetables and a dessert.

I have hypoglycemia as well. I've hit the floor a few times. Till I figured out what was going on. Walking in a walk in freezer helps as well. But definitely PB and also cheese. You need the protein to keep you going and stable. But PB has that sugar in it as well. So it hits faster. I was always told to go for protein when sugar drops Hope he gets it worked out as well.

Our 1950s elementary lunch ladies were the best cooks. Peanut butter cookies galore, but my favorite was their apple crisp. We all cleaned our metal trays. Chocolate milk break cost 2 cents, lunch was a quarter and our popsicles were 5 cents. My Mama would wrap my quarter, my nickel and my two pennies in the end of a little handkerchief so I would be all set.

I am 75 and I still love peanut butter spoons with apple slices on the side. More grown up version, I suppose.

Oh, I told my children to get a peanut butter spoon, too! I think we will make peanut butter cookies today. Also, love that sunflower measuring bowl. And your bowl for mixer I need to know where you got that.

We still eat a "peanut butter" spoon!! Or a spoon of peanut butter on a plate and pour molasses over, mix and sop it up with lite bread!!! Yum 😋. I can remember sitting on my grandmother's knee (I called her nanny) and she would feed me peanut butter molasses sopped up with lite bread!!! Now that's been a long time ago.
