Great video. Miss hunting with my dad and his buddies at their old hunting camp. Hope there's a deer camp in heaven.

I'm glad I came acrossed your video again how heart warming. I Remember finding one of my dad's old pit blinds on a high ridge in the sleeping bear dunes national lake shore . This was before it became federal . Many years ago . Leaves have filled alot of it in . But it's precious. Your story is so cool on how you found the can to heat that seat bucket. Thanks

We’ve got a lot in common. My dad also took one of his biggest bucks on a rainy December day. He passed away 3 weeks later and I also carried his 99 300 savage with me this year and shot a doe by his stand. Great memories but I sure miss them old guys

This truly is what deer hunting in Wisconsin is all about. Its not about getting the biggest buck or bringing home as much venison as possible... its about spending time with family and friends in the north woods and taking part in a tradition that goes way back. This video makes me want to keep the Wisconsin hunting tradition alive even more. Couldn't be more pumped for this upcoming deer season!!!

Fantastic video. Its great you could hunt with your Dads savage. A couple years ago I hunted with my Dads pre64 model 70 in 257 roberts. My health isn't so good anymore so I was just going to sit in the pasture and see if something would wander by. I was just ready to leave the house when an avg size 3x5 buck came wandering through the yard. Dad's rifle scored and that rack is now hanging on the wall. No one else will care about that so-so rack hanging there, but it is a memory and remembrance of times gone by to me.

Amazing! My dad was born in 1912 and raised in Wisconsin . His dad raised a family of five boys and three girls by hunting and trapping. They lived near Turtle Lake and I guess not too far from Tomahawk. He told me many stories of when he was growing up and how life was there hunting, trapping and fishing. They had interactions with some of the indian people there as well. This video reminded me of many stories my dad used to tell me. Brings back some really wonderful memories!

Great video!! Thanks for sharing the memories. My father in law, who got me into hunting 35 years ago, passed away in 2013. His oldest son, my brother in law, passed away in 2007. When I started hunting with the family there were 4 in the hunting party and we grew to 7, then with life and jobs the hunting party started to go down hill. Then after my brother in law passed away and then my father in law, the hunting party is down to 3. My father in laws youngest son, myself and my youngest son try and keep the tradition alive. But when we go to those old stands sites where my father in law hunted or his oldest son hunted it brings up memories, happy memories but also sad feelings knowing they are gone. Again thank you North American Hunting Club and Bill Miller for sharing this video. I know it is 7 years ago, but it is refreshing to see old videos about old style hunting and remembering the past hunts.

Creating memories from long ago is a right of passage for all hunters who enjoy being with friends during such a magical time in the woods. Deer hunters understand this.

Just took a small buck in my home town area today after being gone for 5 years. I used my old 1950s winchester Mod70 .270 that I took my first 2 deer with. Nothing better than being in familar deer woods with a classic rifle. Its a great feeling.

Excellent! Brings back so many memories for me as a 52 year old man. And in those days, as well as for myself these days, men hunted from the ground. I've tried tree stands, but feel they "elevate" you from the true experience, and rawness of a deer hunt. Can hardly wait to clear out my spot next to the big oak in the holler.

I grew up hunting in western Pennsylvania. Small game hunting on Saturday, clear out leaves or snow at the base of a tree on Sunday and in the woods an hour before light on Monday. Perfect weekend and getting a deer was a bonus.

Great video. The best day I ever spend in the field I never even took serious aim at a deer. I did, however, hear two big flocks of turkeys come down from their roost on the river and watched them parade along a ridge on their way to feed. I also watched deer (does and fawns) bobwhite and blue quail, doves, cardinals, green jays, Mexican parrots and rabbits. A red-tailed hawk watched from a power line pole for an hour or so, then swooped down and nabbed one of the rabbits. It was really an amazing day. By the way, my favorite rifle for deer her in south and central Texas is a Savage Model 99 in 250-3000.

Deer hunting has been a part of my life 45 years. A successful hunt is just seeing a deer. It’s not all about killing a beautiful animal. Many times I pass on shooting because I don’t want to dress and load one. It’s watching a sunrise and feeling the temps drop. Cold, fresh air.

Give all the deer a chance to live a normal life walk run eat freely with no fear and come home to their families at the end of the day sleep together in warm of their bodies. The deer need each other just like us coming home to our love ones when darkness come.

My best friend and I hunt out of Virgin Timber Resort on Moose Lake, east of Hayward Wi. Every year is deer camp for us. We've been hunting the Moose Lake area for over a decade now and will continue too for as long as we are able to. I'm in my late 40's now, and hope to hunt for another 30 years. If there is anyone out there that would like to join us, contact us please. We'd love to have you participate.
