Linlithgow palace, birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots, was reputed to be the finest palace in Europe. According to local historians buildings on site from 1100's. A lot of interesting history and myths attached to this place. You should have gone into St Michaels church in the palace grounds. Spectacular inside - particulatly the organ. The original spire was fragile and replaced in 1964 with a modern spire reminicent of christs crown of thorns.
