In today’s episode we are checking out two different skateboard builds and figuring out which is better for different situations. Do you prefer a classic 80’s style setup or a more modern take on the Oldschool skateboard?

Just got the new Santa Cruz Roskopp Face 3 and fell in absolute love in the first 10 minutes. Its a bit bigger than other Roskopp Faces at 9.933" instead of 9.5. I'm in mega board madness mode. Have 15 completes at the moment and have settled on the Roskopp as my main everything all the time board. I might as well start selling my other boards for cheap. A lot of them will see very minimal use provided I have a Roskopp to skate.

The Roskopp models are pretty sick! I don’t think I’ve ever had board madness but I do like having a few setups just to switch things up a bit!

Been riding 10" reissues for seven years now. I usually have two set-ups for the park. I refer to them as my "stub nose" and "full nose" set-ups. For the stub nose, I'll usually do a 30"-31.25". Even the Kendall board here would be stub nose. For the full nose, I like to have at least a 32". The stub noses are usually cooler feeling/looking, but he's right; there will come a time when you need to full functionality of a nose. Some of these tricks might include lip slides, disasters, nose picks, nose manuals, or sweepers. All these tricks can be done on the stub nose, but the full nose makes it substantially easier.

Agreed! Either setup is respectable though!

i love all your videos i set up my kendall with the nanos 52mm today! cant wait to try it i have so many old skool boards ( I’m a big 80s fan and collector! ) with heavy wheels and I totally understand you why not both old skool and functionality! Keep them videos coming !!

Thanks dude! It’s a super fun obstacle! Just be ready it is mostly low risk but the slide can surprise you still and a quick slip out can happen.

Functionality is always key if you you have the amount of skills and tricks that you have. I think the form...big wheels big riser pad looks cooler on that flat Vallely board. And even if not as functional and you're just doing more basic tricks and old school 80s style tricks, it looks more rad in my opinion. Thanks for the vid. You rip

Yeah the whole 80s aesthetic looks sicker to me. From the boards to the simplicity of the tricks just looks awsome. I've been riding a powell steadham reissue from 84 with a more modern shape 60 mm spitfire wheel, and 1/8 riser and just recently jumped to a 1/4 riser with 60 mm slimeballs. Now I want to get some 65 slimeballs for an even deeper 80s looks haha.

@@Jayholmes518 sounds like a solid setup! I just built one with half inch risers, oj3’s, and an old winkowski board. It’s a big tank and I love it

Yeah I always tell people to do a Benihana because it feels like the complete opposite of “do a kickflip” and the outro is just cause I like doing German accents!

@@bigdeckenergy8119 I think they’re hilarious 😆 I get more Borat/Ali G vibes, but could be kinda German. My next trick is gonna be sw benihanas in your honor. I’ll build for function every time. Sprained both wrists last time i cobbled some big and soft wheels on an old fish tail. Pebble held up the back wheel while going fast. I tried instinctively tried leaning back to not fall on my face. Wheel jumped the pebble, and my board got kicked out from under me. I went down on both wrists and my back doing 13 mph on a bicycle path. I’m all good now. But I ain’t cruising.

@@monstercadaver thanks dude! And it’s always the smallest stuff that gets us messed up the most. Had a small pebble send me shoulder first into a ledge the other day. Nothing serious but was pretty sore for a couple days.
