Literally all 2k has to do is fix ghost contests and make contested shooting have consistent timing
@KevinCruz0162 ай бұрын
Yeah, the ghost contests are definitely still in the game, you just want to make sure that you identify when they're coming. I think they're getting close to solving that, but it's still a problem this year for sure!
@johnwayne7-3142 ай бұрын
100.. the ghost contest on my 6'4 is ridiculous. I could deal with it if it was just in the defenders favor and there was an adjustment factor. But it's not just that it's so inconsistent, I can take a jumpshot wide open and take the EXACT jumpshot very next possession and I get different release and it says 30 percent contest or something. Wide open to 30 percent on same shot isn't just inconsistent. That's straight broken

Anyone saying you shouldn’t be able to hit contested shots doesn’t watch the NBA, the best players are hitting contested all the time.

Right it's apart of basketball. Contested doesn't mean an automatic miss, it makes the shot a potential miss

@ShyySosa2 ай бұрын
@@legendarybushido2829 nobody said tht...but IF you watch the nba you see that alot of times good defense is played, but offense is just good ash in todays nba.
@FuruThaGuru2 ай бұрын
@@legendarybushido2829 no, but what makes them the best players is the fact that they can hit contested more than most. watch paul georges highlights, watch kyrie's highlights, watch lebron's highlights. sometimes good defense is not enough.

I was expecting a discussion on how the coverage/distance/contest affect the timing of release. Whether you should release a bit early to beat the defender or stick to your timing release the same as you would shoot an open shot

shoot it like it’s open. contest speeds up your jump shot animation just a little. best tip is to keep an eye on your jumper. green after green

Bro am all for making 2k making the game harder. But every time 2k tries to make things difficult they take away one mechanic tht works and places in another one tht doesn’t. As far as the shooting in 2k24 everything is perfect inside of mycareer the games are hard and entertaining however the shooting is literally game breaking. I have no idea when to shoot and how to shoot and am not even a bum at the game. The dribbling everything is great but the shooting is so confusing WHYYYY?

How do you time your shot which each contest? I feel like it varies on the level of contest but do you shoot it slightly quicker if you know there’s a contest? Is there a visual Que to go off of?
@chrisjones7202 ай бұрын
The closer they are to you contesting the quicker your release has to be.
@terrancebrockman57032 ай бұрын
@@chrisjones720is there a visual Que for it? I feel like there’s a slight delay in the gameplay as you shoot contested. Cruz gives good baseline pointers to follow but the unpredictability of everything is what throws me off….1 moment you are wide open on a shot but someone slightly contests and now the timing is off
@minovictor2 ай бұрын
Blaq kobra made a video on this and it’s helped me start making contested shots consistently. Shot timing doesn’t change, just that the more contested a shot is, the shorter your green window is. You still have the same pure green window. You can practice this by going to a game mode with AI and intentionally shooting contested shots. Most people don’t know their actual perfect release they just get it somewhere within the 30-50 millisecond green window. Once you know your ACTUAL perfect release timing, contested shots are a lot easier to make. In the midrange I’m now pretty comfortable making 20% contested shots especially once green machine is activated. Just gotta shoot like the defender isn’t there
@terrancebrockman57032 ай бұрын
@@minovictor you a real one for this info. I’ll check the video out. Does it show what game mode it is for practicing those shots?
@minovictor2 ай бұрын
@@terrancebrockman5703 I just go to black top and use my myplayer on 1v1. I go against mugsy bogues who’s like 5’4 to practice shooting against low contests then pick a really good defender to try shoot yellow and red contests. I think in blaq kobras vid he recreates his myplayer in a myleague then does a scrimmage to practice contested shots.

There are no actual speed ups, its just that the more contested the shot, the green meter narrows. Your ‘true’ release point will never change, so I would recommend practicing different situations to find out how you get there!
