Beautiful. Miku is an angel and with the best rhythm section on planet earth backing her, it's perfect. And Akane doing back up vocals! Misa's base looks like it's been well loved!! I LOVE HER and that big yellow bass, it is iconic! I am 66 years old and I feel like a proud papa seeing how much they've grown in 10 years. Miku playing guitar being the prime example. I absolutely Love these young ladies so much. They give me so much joy in everything they do!!

One thing I think people fail to mention is how far Miku has come in her playing. It wasn't that long ago (relatively speaking) she wore that Rickenbacker as a necklace.......

I agree with you, but we should take into account that not many reactors really deal with the history of the band, even if we do our best in the comments. Not in relation to OSN, but for many. And especially with channels that cover several bands on a daily basis or maybe have their usual focus somewhere else, I can even understand it to some extent.

That was 10 yrs ago and people mention it all the time. I reckon she'll be retiring in 20 or more years and people will still be saying it. People are trying to be kind, I know, but personally I'd feel patronised if I was a decade into being a professional guitar player and people were still commenting on what an improver I was.

@@technopsychobedlam I think what most are saying is not that she has improved yes as you said it's been just over 9 years which for the average Joe would be fine but consider her schedule she is a Backing/Lead Vocalist which needs training and practice not to mention having to memorize EVERY song then she is the MAIN promoter of the Band which involves way more than I would know but does include traveling and doing many many interviews then there is the Fact she is the LYRICIST with over 70 songs to Her credit all of which I am fairly confidant in saying are NOT written in 5 minutes add to all of this prior to 2020 TOURING Nationwide and Overseas so I ask WHERE THE HELL does she get the time to practice Guitar.

Sayonakidori means Nightingale. Legend has it a Nightingale told Miku they sing better than Pigeons. This was her response. Miku said she was really nervous before this song, hitting those high notes. But then she said she got nervous during the recording because Akane kept giving her 'approving mum' looks!

The idea for the heart-shaped hole came from none other than Eric Clapton. He commissioned Tony Zemaitis in 1969 to build a 12-string acoustic, his infamous "Ivan the Terrible" guitar, used during the Derek and the Dominos years. About the size of a mariachi bass, it was said to be used by George Harrison on "My Sweet Lord"! Clapton said during a very stormy relationship argument, he took the guitar and destroyed it. The only thing left intact was the neck. 5 years later, he took the neck back to Tony and apologized and asked for forgiveness. Tony made him another using the same neck. That guitar inspired the present day Zemaitis acoustics and eventually sold at auction in 2004 for $253,900!!! Miku is keeping the legacy alive!!!👍👍🤘🤘🤘

They switched it up their formations a lot for this performance. It was just Saiki and Kanami at one point. Then they brought out MISA to make it a trio. Then they went to this formation. Then it was Akane (sitting on a cajon), Saiki, and Miku. I think those were all the different formations. I might have missed one. MISA did a lot of the lead work that night. She left her bass plugged in for that reason I think.

This was part of the band’s Christmas Acoustic concert (2021) where the band played 14 songs which were mostly rearranged by Kanami. This song was rearranged by MIKU…the band played several songs together and than broke up into smaller sections. They issued a cd of this show however, it was limited to the band-maid club members only (their Christmas gift to their club members) Personally, I’m still hoping that they issue a blueray or dvd of the concert itself. Thanks for the review/reaction. Miku and Akane were phenomenal on vocals, MISA was just out of this world. Peace and Respect from 🇨🇦

The thing about MISA is she's maxed out two skill trees: BASS and tastefulness. That serene demeanour is confidence; she's a god tier bassist and she knows it. MISA is the rare kind of bassist where if you were recording a song with her you don't even have to hear her parts before mixing the song or going on stage. You just know she's going to do the right thing for the song.

I see some already told you that they performed in various configurations during the acoustic concert… but I’m not sure anyone told you that even the full band version of this song is Sakai-less. It’s written as a Miku-led song, and is one of the things that preserves Sakai’s voice during their long concerts.

Misa the barefoot assassin ( here wearing black shoes) . sayonakidori ( サヨナキドリ) in japanese means Nightingale , but is funny how everything you said about Misa (besides being right) also applies to Miyako from Lovebites. Both always so serene, rarely smile on stage, super concentrated with that poker face that doesn't reveal emotions, but both convey emotion through music and are both world class instrumentalists of the best I've seen so far in my almost 55 years, I play bass and guitar for almost 40 years and I would like to have only 10% of the talent of any of them, but I think I have very fat fingers, but one thing I know is to recognize talent where it exists and both in Lovebites and in Band Maid talent is something to spare 🤣🤣🤘🤘

As I have always said, MISA plays *lead* bass. Go back to the song 'Freedom' and have a listen. MISA and Kanami will often switch out playing the main riff, like in the song 'Puzzle' right before Kanami goes into her solo MISA takes over. This isn't Metallica, where bass is an inconvenient afterthought. This is BAND-MAID!

According to the band members, MISA is by no means as tough as she appears on stage. On the contrary, she is playful, funny and always up for mischief backstage. In contrast, Miku can be hard as a nail. To herself and to others. She says herself that she has cried only once and that was when the band almost broke up. Just before Thrill. P.S. MISA plays bass like Peter Hook from New Order. More like a normal guitar and then her fantastic technique to be able to play with and without plectrum and switch in a split second. Simply great.

The fact that they're such great musicians in a subtle way doesn't hurt. Great reaction! (You're right the guitar is rhythmic and the bass is carrying the melody, didn't even need a 2nd listen)

This is my favorite Miku song! Miku arranged this acoustic version her self and all I can say job well done! This performance featured several different combinations of Band-Maid members for different songs! MISA plays a lead bass, let's face it! Kanami made this song, in the electric format, for Miku and wanted to challenge her singing and guitar skills, and the Small Pigeon really delivered! Not sure if you have done the recent releases of "Hibana", "Corallium", and "Sense", but they are all great, if not! MISA isn't called "The Barefoot Assassin" for nothing, cool, calm, collected, and deadly on that bass!

For me the reason Misa feels so unique is that it feels like she's got a fusion jazz brain but grew up on classic rock. She plays kind of lead bass instead of rhythm bass if that makes sense. I've played bass to 30-ish years, worked in the music industry for about 10-15 of those and have been to 1000's of shows and I have never seen or heard a rock bassist play the way she does. It is like if a geneticist experimented on Jaco Pastorious, Steve Harris and...er...Sid Vicious.

Miku has a very "J-pop" vocal timbre (which makes sense as she was an Idol singer), whereas Saiki's is much more what we more familiar with in the West. Kanami's voice is very soft and girly, very similar to the female singer-songwriters of the 90s (ie Lisa Loeb, Juliana Hatfield, etc). I haven't heard Akane or MISA sing enough to be able to describe them. BTW, MISA's bass style has always been more of counter-melody than just sitting back and playing root notes.
