About a year ago I picked up my Oldtown Sportsman 106PDL, I did a review and first impressions video then. I've fished out of it quite a bit over the last year and wanted to do another review of it. What I like, what I don't like.

Great review Tom and like the way you have it set up! Nice to see the fish finder in use when you get that installed too.

Thanks Tony, I will have to do a video once I get it installed.

I have the same exact kayak and absolutely LOVE it!! I had mine for 2 years and so far I had no problems or issues!! I did make my own seat risers with 2x4 wood blocks to give the seat a lift! Easy to do! It’s a great kayak!! 👍🤡👍
@AverageDadFishing7 ай бұрын
I am thinking about doing seat risers too. Thanks for the idea of the 2x4. I love this kayak as well.

I got my Old Town PDL 120 from Lancaster County Marine back in March 2023. I love mine and they are awesome people to deal with!!
@AverageDadFishing7 ай бұрын
Yeah they were great to deal with! Where do you fish mostly? I am mostly fishing rivers and creeks.

That is one helluva kayak there my friend. 5 POLES ??? What in the hell do you need a fish finder for?? You wanna catch MORE fish than you normally do? You’ve caughten more fish in one video than I have in a lifetime😂😂. And yes, I’m using “caughten 🙂. Great video brother as always.
@AverageDadFishing8 ай бұрын
Thanks my friend… I love the use of caughten… and I need it more for depth and to identify structure that would hold fish.. I appreciate the support!

Nice video! Regarding size, have you ever felt that you could have got the 120 PDL as it gives additional space and stability? I am 5.8 and 160LB.
@AverageDadFishing5 ай бұрын
I am 5’9” 195 and have plenty of room. The 120 would give a little more room up front but it’s heavier and that would make car topping a bit more difficult and the storage space would be a little more of an issue as well.

Those the warranty cover the drive the way you have used it? Thinking of buying one, asked the same question but they always answer with 5 year warranty which I know but wanted to know if they would cover it?
@AverageDadFishing5 ай бұрын
Great question, most warranties will cover manufacturers defects but not wear and tear. This drive is very robust. I have hit some rocks pretty hard and you can hardly tell. I think it would take quite a lot of damage this drive to the point t its unusable.

Hello sir my name is Tom, I live in Florida and I'm a Bass guy I've been interested in getting a PDL 106 Old Town Kayak, I was curious how do you transport your kayak, trailer, roof top? If I was to get one I would have to trailer mine. Even though I have an SUV it would get old after awhile up and down on a roof of a vehicle. My trailer and kayak would be garbage kept so storage not an issue. Guess I would kayak cart to boat ramp. I'm new to kayak fishing.
@AverageDadFishing7 ай бұрын
I roof top it… I don’t have the space to keep a trailer. If you get the right trailer you could just back it right into the water. Good luck!

It's funny I was thinking the same thing, go about it as if was a Jon boat and just back it down the boat ramp and push it into the water. One thing I have to learn is outdoor toys are gonna get scratches and dents I tend to be over cautious. As far as cost kayaks are the way to go.

@@AverageDadFishing me as well. Just wondering how easy is it to move the seat back for more room if you were on a long drift. Thanks for your help.
